Mitsubishi TV problem ws-65809 Concave Screen Fix

You described the fix for the problem I'm having with my TV (copied below). Do you have any diagrams, documents or pictures you can send me? I've got a buddy that's a licenced electrician and he's glad to do the work for a 6 pack but he needs to know what he's looking for.
Thanks.

The soldering comes loose on the STK ICs in Mits's, sometimes actually coming loose INSIDE the IC, where it solders in there! Heat/cold over and over translates into expand/contract over and over.

Just resoldering the legs usually does the trick, but if you have continued to use your set while hurt, the ICs will eventually go out completely and need replacement. Resoldering them in before that time usually saves the ICs and never needs to be done again.

It needs to be repaired by having the convergence ICs replaced or resoldered (if intermittent).

Parts are STK 392-570. Be sure to use thermal paste on the ICs.

I have a Mitsubishi WS-65809 Rear projection TV the fisheyes or bent screen.

Try to describe problem better----is picture concave or bowed with colors out of place or is is just not straight?

If in doubt go into customer menu and select convergence and then advanced(instructions will be on screen) it will bring up a grid of lines--what you are looking for and I need to know is is the grid not square or are there red or blue lines with or without a bow in them?

The more you can tell me the better the chance I can help you--I am in California and will be here for the next few hours.

I have a Mitsubishi ws-65809 when i turn it on it shuts down after 2 seconds, i held the input and menu buttons in and it gave me cod 2-3 was wondering what could be the problem, and if it is an easy fix...

Error code 23 means "Loss of Horizontal Deflection" that means horizontal section of TV is not working. Cause can be horizontal out transistor is short or not getting +B volts from power supply.
If you understand schematic, I can email you complete repair manual of Mitsubishi WS-65809 that will help you to diagnose problem by measuring volts and checking parts.
Thanks.

Horrible picture on top & bottom of screen

I wouldnt reccommend that you try to fix it as it is a lot easier to make it worse that better. Basically your color guns have gotten un focused and will need to be adjusted. Call a tv tech and they can usually fix it for a decent price.

Good Day;

You have poor connections on your "convergence IC's. Middle board IC's on large silver heat sink. Redo solder before total failure. Good Luck, big IRISH.
