Yes it can be replaced. If it's the fan that is where you power connector comes out, then that's your power supply. Those are very easy to replace.

The other fan above your cpu can also be replaced, there's usually only 4 screws holding it in. Then it plugs into the motherboard.

Howto replace fan on amd firepro v5900? Are there any instuctions available?

Hello,

Turn off and unplug your computer.
Press the power button for about 10 seconds to ensure all power is drained (or at least as much as possible)
Remove the cables from back of PC (as needed)
Open the case
Remove the screw holding down the video card.
If there is a lock at the read of the video card (on the mainboard/motherboard), release it and remove the video card from the slot.
There are three screws holding down the fan. Remove them with a correct tool.
Remove the fan and unplug the cable.
Installation is the reverse of the process.

Best wishes,
Joe

Have a PC 099A-ABA that won't turn on after power outage and surges due to Hurricane Irene. Green light on back is blinking, but nothing I try has made it start. I think it's the power supply, but...

Hey there,

It sounds like it could be the power supply. What is the blinking light you're talking about? Is it at the socket for the network cable? (Cable should say CAT) on it somewhere.

If it is the network cable, chances are that the PSU (power supply unit) is not to blame, and it could simply be that something else inside has broken (probably the motherboard).

If it is the PSU that has gone, you need to replace it. unplug all the cables that attach to various points around your computer (making sure to note where they plug in). Then, check to see the wattage on the PSU and order one that matches or exceeds this value. They're reasonably cheap from practically any online store. I'd invest a bit extra in it though if you intend to keep the PC for a while as the reaaaally cheap ones inevitably break after a few months.

Once you have the new PSU, plug it into all the same places after screwing it in and it should work off the bat.

Cheers

I have one broken end of my cables and therefore they are useless

hello srw. You can have a new end installed but it is generally not worth the money as a new cable is only a few dollars. Take your broken cables to Radio Shack and price the ends and the tool required to install them. Joe

Dimension 9200 wont boot in normal or safe mode. Processor fan is not running

The fan probably went out. Did you hear the fan noise for the last 2-3 weeks while using the unit? That was the fan going out. Buy a new fan @ Best Buys or your local computer store. It may work.
If it doesn't , you may have to replace the Processor and /or the system board.

Noise like a cd spinning when booting up pc

It may be one of the fans the is dirty or going bad. Buy a can air, take the cover off and clean both of the fans.

Won't turn on - PS light on but no PS fan

Surely sounds like the power supply is in need or replacement, or fuse replacement at absolute least.  the fuse that you will be in search of will be located inside of the power supply unit.  Use caution when working inside the power supply.  If you don't see a fuse in the power supply, OR you come to find that the fuse is not damagaed then you will likely need to replace the power supply.

Joe

My computer constantly freezes on random occasions. I think it has something to do with my mother board witch is a ASUS K8V Deluxe

Is it the fan attached to the inside on the back?
That is the chassis fan that is not spinning. You need to replace it because the unit needs that additional cooling. It is easy to replace (4 screws). Your local computer store should carry it.
Don't let the PC freeze too much longer, it may cause major problems.
