- do this:
create a new partition,
whether by taking a free space or u can shrink ur windows vista partition,
for xp u`ll need around 10 to 20GBs and make sure that the remaining size of partition for vista to be at least 70GBs.
then format it,
reboot to vista to let it configure changes,
reboot and install xp,
then after installing as the boot loader of vista is differenrt from XP`s you`ll have to download a third-party software to fix it:
http://www.vistabootpro.org/
download that( microsoft .net framework 2 required)
backup ur bcd,
go to bootloader tab,
reinstall vista bootloader,
do a diagnostic from diagnostic menu,
select the default boot choice as vista,
create a new boot choice,
name it xp,
select the boot drive & ..,
go to your windows vista root directory and display the hidden files and copy "ntdetect" and "ntldr" to the xp root directory,
enjoy it
