Hello, unfortunately this was a common problem with that machine , the seal and bearing in the washer tub is worn and the grease is leaking out of the bearing and seal and is getting on your clothes. This is not a cheap repair, in fact I would recommend at this point to purchase a new or even a used washer from a shop that gives you a decent warranty.
www.fixya.com/.../t14582529-maytag_washing_machine_gets_grease Oct 8, 2012 - Maytag washing machine gets grease on clothes occasionally. ... some of their clothes ruined by grease stains from their front loader Kenmore. .... remove the agitator from a Maytag washing machine Model A407 series 02?
f you use cold water wash and rinses regularly it may have an accumulation of un-dissolved detergent, dirt/grime and body oils stuck on the inside wall of the outer tub. When washing whites I assume that you are using Hot water and it could be causing some of the accumulation to break loose in small clumps and re-depositing on the clothes.
sounds like a rear drum shaft seal may be leaking and getting either rust or brown grease spots on your clothes. If this the case, you should be able to see signs of water leakagein the back of the unit.Take the rear cover off and look in the area behind the large drum pulley. This problem also usually results in noisy operation eventually. The water would be getting into the tub bearing behind the seal.
Once a month toss a cup of Cascade dish detergent in washer and one cup of bleach. Run wash cycle for 5 minutes. Then pause and start again and let go thru entire wash cycle. Never had a mold or any problem with following this maintenance plan.
hi. i can help. the grease is coming from one of two places. Either some item with grease on it got placed in the machine and the grease transferred to the tub where it will cause the problem until it is spotted and removed with a degreaser, or wears off.
OR the grease is coming from the washer itself. Perhaps some grease oozed out of the mechanicals related to the aggitator.
Either way I would get a strong flash light or trouble light and look carefully in the tub and around the aggitator for grease. Then remove it with a cloth and some degreaser, available at any auto parts store.
HI! I just posted a question to "justask.com" and am having the exact same problem. I paid $9 for this answer and was happy to pay it because I now know what it is! From what I have been told, it is from the transmission in your washer and will cost at least $400 to fix it (that's just a ballpark figure... I have a Frigidaire and that was the figure I was given). So, basically, it would be more cost effective for you to purchase a new washer.
i have some good news for you, its n greas. what it is, is built up detergen between the tubs. its common on front loads. its due to to much detergen. waht i recomend to all my customers is not to sue more then 4 table spoons of detergen for a wash. now how to get rid of it, take some POWDERED dishwaher detergent and run a HOT cycle do this about 3 time and that should fix the problem. hope this helped .
