Question about Hitachi Video Cameras
When I put a new disc into my digital HDD/DVD camcorder, it doesn't give me the option to format. The option is no longer in the settings menu, either. It's vanished off the face of the earth. (I've tried three new discs, two different makes. I am not touching the recording surface at all).
A -r or sometimes a -rw doesn't need to be formated to work-there may be no problem at all-are you using the proper media for brand cam-sony + or - most others only use - check on door of cam

Tips for a great answer:
Aug 21, 2011 | Sony HDR-SR10E HDD Camcorder
Insert a disc into your computer's CD or DVD drive.
In the dialog box that appears, click Burn files to disc.
In the Burn a disc dialog box, type a name for your new disc.
Click Show formatting options, and then click one of the following formatting options:
Live File System
Click Next to prepare the disc.
Now you can copy files to your disc using whichever method you selected.
