My clip shut down and restarting it will not help!!!

    My Sansa ramdomly shuts down after I turn it on!

    i turn it on then it refresh database then it goes back 2 sandisk screen

Firmware Upgrade

These are the most common methods for recovering Sandisk's Sansa Mp3 Players. I have been almost universally successful in recovering Sansa players using one or a combination of these methods. These methods do not work if you are having synchronization or music format issues - they are for recovering a player that will not power up, freezes, flashes, is not recognized by the computer, and a host of other issues.

Reset the Sansa Player first. On most models, restart is done by holding the power button in for 15 seconds or longer. Check your specific manual to be sure. The manuals are available from the Sansa website if they have been misplaced.
Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from the Sansa website.
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/DriverDownload/driverList.asp

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
If you get the problem where MTP Device keeps popping up continuously, uninstall the “MTP Device” by going to Start à Control Panel àSystem à Hardware à Device Manager (you computer may vary slightly, depending on Windows Version).
You may have to restart your computer after each of these methods to get them to work properly. Disconnect your Sansa player BEFORE shutting down your computer.

    None of the above solutions have helped with mine. It is still as dead as a dodo. The Sansa recovery tool also didn't seem to do anything once installed. There was no record of an application on my computer. This is really frustrating and is in fact the second Sansa clip that has died this way. Windows tells me that it needs to be formatted before it can work but I made that mistake last time and was left with a player that had only a 30.4MB capacity. I'm sick of Sansa continually letting me down. No wonder their devices are so cheap. You have to buy a new one every 3 months.

My clip shut down when I plugged a card into it. Holding down the power/reset button for 15 seconds or more did not help.

Holding down the volume+ and pressing the power button made it start immediately, and resume playing the track it was on after some 30 seconds of displaying the logo.

after fitting the card again, it appears on the computer as a separate device.

MY sansa clip while connected through data cable it restarts automatically , in normal mode device is not powered on

I have lost the connection between the SanDisk Sansa Clip and Rhapsody To Go. I do not see the Sansa Icon when I open Rhapsody. I Recently added ZoneAlarm as my Firewall protection.


I contacted the Rhapsody Support team. They directed me to the Control Panel on my PC, then System/Maintenance, then select System, then Device Manager. I found my device listed, then check error code, uninstalled device, shut-down system, restart, went back to Device Manager, click Action, then Scan for hardware changes and just followed the instructions. That did it. Thank you for the followup.

switch the usb mode which ever one is highlighted first chose the other and then it will stop refreshing

My computer does not shut down


Ok
Gonna try and teach you some basic programming :-).
What the following will do, is create you a Desktop Shutdown Icon, which when you double click on it, will hopefully shut down your PC rather then restart it.
So here's how to do it :-).

1. Right click on your desktop and select new > shortcut.
2. In dialog box type “shutdown –s”
3. Click next to continue and then type a name for shortcut (IE Shut Down PC) and click finish.

Now you should see the shortcut on your desktop and will hopefully solve your problem.

Viao PCG-GRX650 won't shut down fully


DaveBaker,

Here are a couple of tips that I've collected that may address your problem.


Go to start>run>then type in "cmd" without the quotes. this will bring up the command prompt. next type in the following command: "shutdown -s" without the quotes again. This should tell your system to shutdown your computer entirely.

Next
Try doing this. Hold down "ctrl" and left click "shutdown". This skips some windows XP shutdown procedure and should do the trick.
