There is nothing as a separate microphone driver that you need to install generally , All you need to do is check microphone settings , as to whether they have been changed or the microphone has been muted accidentally.
Please follow the below steps :-
In control panel , open sound speech and audio devices
The click on the audio , tab where you would find two options , sound playback and sound recording.
Sound playback has to do with the sound that you hear , i.e. the headphone sound.
Sound microphone has to do with the sound that you record or transmit i.e. microphone.
Now you would have two options under sound recording sections, namely volume and advanced.
Open the volume and advanced section and check if it has been muted.
If it's muted , please unmute it and now you would be able to record your voice or chat using a microphone.
Go to the HP website, choose your type of operation system, download the audio drivers and install:
If some drivers are still missing you can check them by looking inside the Device Manager: press WinKey+Pause > Hardware tab > Device manager
If you still experience problems, follow these steps:
1) If you have an original CD of your computer, motherboard, or audio card, insert the CD and install the driver from it. 2) Or alternatively insert the CD and go to: Start > Settings > Control Panel > Performance and Maintenance > System > Hardware > Device Manager, find any unidentified device in the list, or expand the "Sound, video and game controllers" branch, identify the Audio card > Right click > Update driver... > Install the software automatically > Next 3) Or alternatively download and install a free driver updater software, e.g. http://www.innovative-sol.com/drivermax/index.htm - let it scan and update all your missing drivers. P.S. These steps mentioned above are for Windows XP, but will be quite similar on other Windows versions, too.
It could be as simple as needing to reinstall your sound drivers.
Also try going to control panel, sound, click on sound be sure your device is listed.
Go to the propeties tab find levels scroll down to the bottom to microphone.Turn it up.
Also make sure your in the right input on your motherboard or back of the pc.mic is usually coded as pink.
sounds like ( no pun intended) your missing the audio drivers or controllers--right-click on MY COMPUTER then PROPERTIES then HARDWARE then DEVICE MANAGER and check if there are any yellow or red "X"s next to anything (you sound driver) right click and select update driver (you need to be connected to the internet)
I need to ask. Do you have two speakers showing? One fat red one and one gray one as you usually see on computers everywhere? Try this either way. Go to Start, All Programs, Accessories, Entertainment, Volume Control and make sure you don't have a check mark in your Master Volume control found on the far left. Are you using a Desktop or laptop?
Hi dang4g, I gather you have the current needed sound max driver software? Please open control panel, than open Add/ remove programs. Un-install any previous sound driver software listed. Next open the System icon. Click hardware tab, than click the device manager button. Scroll down to Sound, audio and game controller. Find the yellow ! point. Right click it once & left click once update driver. Windows hardware wizard will open.
Click not at this time & click next. Click install from a list or specific location, than click next. In the next window click browse button. Go find where you have stored your sound max driver software. Choose the correct folder & click next. Your sound driver software should install. Re-start the PC when finished. Check windows updates for a possible update.
