Could be a couple problems. The thermostat may not be making the contacts close to tell the compresser to turn on all the time. The compresser could be overloading which would be caused by overheating (clean the condenser). The freezer and frige evaperators may be becoming frozen up due to a bad defrost timer. When the freezer warms up check to see if the compresser is running, if it is not put your hand un it, if it is hot then it's overloading and should be replaced. If it is running and isn't really hot check to make sure all of the fans are running, should be one condenser fan and one on each evaperator. And look for ice build up inside the freezer and fridge. If all the fans are running and coils are clear and compresser is running next st is a plugged cap tube which is the metering device to the evaperators. The mechanic can trim them down six inches and fill the system and they should work great again.
Hope this helps
The compressor should turn on after it cools. It shuts down if it overheats to prevent damage/fire. The compressor itself could be bad but more than likely the fan is dead.
Assuming you have checked that the defrost system and fans are working correctly. I suspect that you have a blockage in the refrigeration system. You need to flush and vacuum and replace the reciever drier.
Some things to check
1. is the compresser running in the back
2. Is the fan by the compresser running
3. is the fan in the freezer running
let me know on these and we will go from there
The clicking you are hearing is your overload on your start system sounds like your compresser start ststem is out..or your compresser is locked up the only way to tell is to ohm out the compresser idf you dont have a meter you can install a start kit like a Supco Pro41 or a RCO410 or a factory replacement and see if it starts up the compresser.. Have you cleaned the condenser at all ??? although this will not fix the compresser it can be a cause of overheating..The part Number you need is a 2188831 for the factory replacemenet ($22.56)the supco parts part number SU RCO410 ($15.00) the Pro41 is part #
SU PRO41 ($17.97) you can get them at your local parts house they are all easy to change or if you dont have a parts house close you can oder it on the web at www.apdepot.com Hope this fixes ya
