Take frigidaire dryer apart to replace bearing

I need to take the top off my frigidaire dryer. There are two screws in the back of the dryer holding L-shaped clamps. I've removed the screws but I can't see how to remove the clamps?

Help, Brent

sorry i thought you had a diffrent model on that last post . there are 2 spring clips on the front you need to push in with a putty knife to release the top but before you do that reinstall the hinges in the back so it can lift up like a car hood

How to replace the start button on a frigidaire affinity dryer aeq7000ego?

There will be screws along back at the top holding the top panel. Using the appropriate screw head screw driver you will have to get these screws out, lift the top panel slightly and push out towards the front. This should disengage the panel from the notch on the main body and come out. That will get you access to the console.
For an assembly view refer to parts manual you can download from this site

Dryer drum started vibrating tremendously. I verified the belt and it looks in good condition. Suspect it might be the bearing or rollers if any. How do I remove back panel to inspect? (Kenmore Laundry...

You can't take the back panel off because that is what holds the bearing and holds the drum. I can tell you the bearing is the most likely cause. http://www.repairclinic.com/ sells the bearing kit and I would go ahead and replace the belt while you have it apart. I've done it by myself a few times, but it is best to have someone help at least while putting it back together. Holding the drum in place while putting the screws in the back of the drum (on the bearing) is the hardest part of the whole job. I believe I also got the directions from Repairclinic.com also.

Frigidaire dryer has recently become noisy. scraping, grinding sound. dont know if its belt or motor. any info b4 i take it apart? no error lights on panel.

The problem with the dryer is not the belt or the motor. the problem is either going to be the drum bearing or the front upper and lower felt and glides.I'll list a walk-through for you if your interested .
1)The first thing you need to do is unplug the dryer.
2) You will need to pop the top of the dryer. This can be done with a flat screwdriver. Place the driver between the top and the front of the dryer and basically just pry upwards.
3)Now, that you can see inside the dryer, the next thing is to remove the front of the machine. At the upper left and right sides you will find a screw that holds the front to the frame of the dryer.Remove these screws and you can take the front off.
4) The glides and felt are located on the inside of the front piece you just removed. The drum actually rest on these and if damaged will produce a metal on metal dragging sound. If these parts are good, continue to step 5)You now have access to the belt and idler pulley, which is good because the belt needs to taken loose .
6) WIth the belt off spin the drum and listen for the sound that has been bothering you, if any sound other than a smooth sound is emitted when turning the drum your rear bearing is out.
7)You can remove the drum by lifting the back end up and pulling it out. Once you have it out the bearing will be exposed and the rest is just swapping out the old bearing and putting it back together.

Frigidaire Dryer GLER642AS3 loud squeaking. Squeaking sound probably coming from drum rotation bearing. Is there an easy way to get in to oil that location to stop squeaking noise? Thanks!

yes but you will have to take the front of the dryer apart and pull out the drum/tub. to do this you must open the dryer door and look up for two screws, remove them. next close the door and using a flat head screw driver, pop the dryer lid/top up (be careful not to bend apart the two green snaps that are holding it tight on each side). now using a phillip head screwdriver in each inside corner you need to unscrew the screw. now lift up and out slowly to remove the front of the dryer ( unplug the dryer door wires before removing front completely). now you must pull the tub straight out (you might need to reach in and take the belt loose first). Now you are where you need to be.

My frigidaire dryer LEQ642DS0 will not shut off by itself, would that be the timer or the knob? Also if it is the timer, is the kenmore/frigidaire part #131062300 (timer) compatable with my dryer

Instructions
Things You'll Need:

* Phillips and hex nut screwdrivers
* Replacement thermal fuse
* Replacement thermostat

1. Disconnect the dryer from the electrical outlet.
2. Slide a putty knife between the top panel and front panel on the left side. Slide the knife toward the center of the dryer to release the left-side spring clip. Repeat the process on the right side. Lift the top panel up and rotate toward the back of the dryer. The thermal fuse and thermostat are located along the dryer's back wall, attached to the heating element housing.
3. Disconnect the two wires from the thermal fuse. The thermal fuse is an inch-long rectangular plastic part, located near the top of the heating element housing. Remove the screw holding the thermal fuse in place. Remove the old fuse. Place a new fuse on the housing and replace the screw. Reconnect the wires to the fuse.
4. Remove the wires on the thermostat. The thermostat is a black, oval-shaped part located just below the thermal fuse. Remove the screws holding the thermostat in place and slide it out of its slot on the heating element housing. Slide a new thermostat into the slot and replace the screw. Reconnect the wires.
5. Lower the dryer's top panel and press down until the spring clips lock into place. Plug the dryer back into the electrical outlet.

Dryer making a loud skreetching noise

Sounds like either a Frigidaire or model 417 kenmore. If it is the rear bearing has gone bad. Usually just the bearing cup needs replacing as long as you don't forget to use the proper grease.

Open the door. Remove the two screws holding the top down. Lift the top, this will give you access to the two screws holding the front on. Goodluck.

Frigidaire FSE446RHS2 electric dryer makes bumping noise when drying. Opened the top, belt is ok.

Rear bearing and drum coupler needs to be replaced
bearing kit part #WC5303281153 is available online from many parts stores. You may want to replace the belt at the same time while you have the unit apart. Also inspect the front upper drum felt if it is worn replace it. The whole repair time for me was about 45 minutes dryer now runs like new.

Fridgidare dryer problem

Frigidaire dryers use a post and bearing support system. The noise you hear is the post grinding away on the support.00069740.jpg This is the kit to fix that dryer and a link to the kit
http://www.repairclinic.com/SmartSearch/SSPartDetail.aspx?PartID=1851&PPStack=1

It cost 24 bucks and ships overnight.

Now to fix it requires a phillip screw driver to undo all those screws, I would start with unplugging the unit, removing the two screws in back for the top panel, two screws for the bottom kick panel, located all the way down, hard to see so tilt unit back to access. Next is four screws at the front corners above the user panel and two inside at front left and right sides about nine inches down, now there are two more at the bottom of this door panel where you pulled the kick panel off. After this there is two wire harness clips, squeeze and pull they come off and gently pull at the top sides as there is retainer clips which secure the panel. Ok? Alright now you see the drum with belt attached, get a flashlight at memorize how the belt loops on the tensioner to the motor pulley and take a photo if needed:) Remove the belt and one more screw top middle in front holding a yellow bumper for the drum. The drum while come off by lifting the back of the drum firmly as it clips in place on the bearing support. Now pull the drum out and if I didnt warn you watch out for sharp edges. You will see the flange with shaft on the drum to replace and the bearing support on the back. The back portion screws together with two screws through a retainer to hold a small ball bearing in, I suggest getting a buddy to hold the back clip when replacing as it is a stretch. In the photo above you will see all the pieces on right go in this order metal clip, plastic cup, ball bearing onto panel and hold clip on back and insert two screws, with a buddy and some grease to hold the ball bearing this is the easy part. The flange has three screws and you must thread them with out stripping the heads off. A buddy again to share the moment is best to hold the drum while you insert the screws. The last part is putting a 1/2 tsp of grease in the plastic cup and following the instructions in reverse. Dont forget the wire harness as you reassemble or the belt looping on the tensioner.
