However, you may download & try installing the XP drivers for the printer in Windows XP mode.

Under compatibility mode, check mark "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" from the drop down list. e. Click Apply and then click ok. 2. a. Under "Privilege level", click "Run this program as an administrator". b. Click apply and then click ok. 3. Install the driver successfully and restart the computer for the changes to take effect.
I had the same problem. I finally totally uninstalled the printer from my computer, downloaded the "new" software from the Brother site, and reinstalled it. This is what finally worked for me (WinXPProf.).
Hello, response in French I am not good in English I will put a translation in English immediately following, therefore the solution is to install manuellement to drive it HL 1250 of Vista that will do to work the HL 1240 but with the 600 dpi (for information the 1250 is at 1200 dpi but bridled to 600 dpi under vista)
small test... Hit the Go button 3 times, fairly fast like
tick-tick-tick, normally by doing this the printer will print it's
internal configuration pages. Are these in Swedish as well?
If I'm correct you selected the wrong supported language when installing the printer.
Go to your controll panel, remove the printer driver in "printers and faxes" as well as any brother software in "add/remove programs". Then disconnect and reconnect the printer, install the driver and try to select the proper language while doing this.
