Either of these sensors could cause the vehicle to turn over but not crank. When I have this issue I always begin by checking to make sure I am getting fuel to the injectors, fire to the spark plugs(and that the plugs are not fouled), and air. Once I have eliminated these then I begin looking at the computer and sensors.

Crankshaft position sensor

the best way to fix your problem would be having OBD (on board diagnostics )pluged to your car . am asuming u didnt disconnet your baterry before u started replacing the parts which ,made faul code or codes come on. Because those are very important sensors engine won't start until u reset the codes

No fire in spark plug wires

Maybe the crankshaft sensor or the camshaft sensor. I don't know what brand of car you are working on. Well I guess if it is old enough that would be the pickup in the distributer.

After having my 06 dodge stratus checked out. 6 codes showed up. I don't want to just start throwing parts on without knowing the real reason for the problem. The car drives fine and then just...

Let's start with the codes.

Po129 refers to barosensor

Po344 is a code for the camshaft position sensor

Po339 crankshaft position sensor

Po340 camshaft position circuit malfunction

Po335 crankshaft POS sensor malfunction

Po122 throttle pedal position

Item 2,3,4,5 relate to each other that s camshaft and crankshaft position sensors. Since both already show a malfunction code, it would be advisable to change.

Sometimes other codes show up because there is a relation but not that the item is bad.

My 2005 f150 has a p0345 code and I don't know what that means

P0345 Camshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Malfunction (Bank 2) A code P0345 could mean one or more of the following has happened:
  • a wire or connector in the circuit could be grounded/shorted/broken
  • the camshaft position sensor may have failed
  • the PCM may have failed
  • there exists an open circuit
  • the crankshaft position sensor may have failed
    • Visually inspect all the wiring and connectors in the circuit
    • Check for continuity in the circuit wiring
    • Check the operation (voltage) of the camshaft position sensor
    • Replace the camshaft position sensor as required
    • Check the crankshaft position circuit as well
    • Replace circuit wiring and/or connectors as required
    • Diagnose/replace the PCM as required
