I can't find a way to hook up a turn table to the yamaha rx-v361. There is no phono jack and there seems to be no substitute jack.

Yes, you'll need to purchase a PHONO PRE-AMP, and then connect the turntable to the pre-amp, and the pre-amp to the LINE INPUT of your receiver.

Do I need to connect my older Fisher Turntable to a pre-amp before connecting to my Yamaha RX-V850?

No, you don't need a preamp if your turntable has a moving-magnet (MM) cartridge, it should work as-is! Happy vinyling =]

How to connect a turntable to Yamaha Rx-v630

If your turn table has a ground wire with the R and L wires then you can not connect it to this receiver. Unless you have a switch on the turn table that chooses between internal or external amp. If you have the switch, pick external amp and then run your R and L into your TV/CD input. Good luck to you.

How to connect a turntable connected to a yamaha a450 stereo amplifier...can I attache the a450 to the htr-6130 ?

If the turntable is newer kind you can connect it in any Stereo input like CD, VCR , etc.

If the turntable is older model you can only connect it to PHONO input (if amp has one) and make sure earthing cable is connected on Amp

Remember input is only stereo (unless your model has digital input) and select sound effect eg Pro Logic for enhanced sound,

The ground for the turntable connection is not working. I've got a bad hum with the ground wire attached to the screw on the receiver and a worse hum when I disconnect it. I had the turntable checked...

The ground connection on your receiver is simply connected to the metal chassis, so there's nothing that can go wrong with it. You won't have hum problems with any sources other than the turntable because their output levels are higher.

With nothing connected to the turntable input, do you still hear any hum? You shouldn't. If you do, the problem is not because of the ground connection, but because something in the receiver's phono preamplifier circuit is faulty. But if there's no hum, the turntable is responsible. The fault may be in the turntable's output cable. The shield connection may have broken loose from the terminal where it's connected in the turntable. Or your cartridge may be defective.

If your receiver is the culprit, you can see about having it serviced. Or you can purchase an external turntable preamp. Radio Shack sells one, and here's another source. With an external preamp, you can connect your turntable to one of the higher-level inputs (AUX, CD) and avoid the phono input.

Yamaha RX-V361 DVD cuts off w/ check SP cable message

This message means that speakers are not connected properly. What is their impedance? What is the impedance set on the receiver via Advanced Setup menu (see manual)? Check if it is not short-circuited.
Try the receiver without speakers connected. If the message goes away, receiver is OK and problem is in the connection to the speakers.

Connecting a Technics SL-BD20D turntable to a Yamaha RX-V463 Rece

After further research, I learned that I need to plug the turntable into a preamp before plugging it into my newer receiver. As with cassettes, record players are fading away. I ordered a preamp, but won't be able to experience success until it arrives.

Have a B&O RX-2 with mcc4 and loud hum

Possibly check the wires on the cartridge, make sure none of them are touching and are not bent to badly, are all the connections tight? some cartridges require plastic sleeves over the connections, this insure they don't touch and
avoids resistances between them. Also some cartridges are not compatible with certain model turn tables. Is it universal? Also you my need a mixer most turntables don't work with amps alone. Mine don't. Usually most models you attach the ground wire to the mixer. A mixer boosts table power and take stress off the amp. Hope this helped! good luck!
