Hi there,
If you oare using a windows based operating system.
On your keyboard hold the windows logo and press the letter R
When the run box comes up type in regedit
go to this key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
delete the upper and lower filters
Reset the computer and check if the cd/dvd drive will now work.
Hope this helps!
Hello,
It could be a problem withthe lens, you should try cleaning the lens, it's already gone bad there is noharm in trying
If you take a little riskcan solve .
follow the instruction: Don'tpanic its very simply.
The issue is due to the driver corruption. You need not worry, there is a simple solution for this.
Go to device manage --> right click on your CD/DVD drive and then click uninstall and then restart your computer. Do not keep any CDs while you do this. Just try this out.
Any brand-new CD/DVD reader/writer with LightScribe *WILL* be compatible with your HP.
Check whether your "power" and "data" cables are the "old" style (white power connector and a 80-pin ribbon-cable) or the "new" style (thin SATA cables), before you buy a writer with the "wrong" (PATA versus SATA) interface.
make sure that the IDE/SATA Cale that you are usin is workin properly and also make sure that the power cable from the powersupply is workin..while restartin you can press the eject button to see if there will be a Green liht to check if there is a power on the DVD..
3 thinGs to check:
*sata/ide cable
*Power cable from the PSU
*DVD writer if all cables are workin try to connect the dvd writer to a diff computer to check if it is faulty
Hardware fault.Try cleaning the lens using a can of compressed air and a q-tip. If this doesn't fix it then the dust has been baked on the lens and this is terminal. Junk this writer and buy a new one, it's cheap.
Hi:
Yes, you can replace your DVD writer with any other model, but there are 2 types, SATA and IDE.
The IDE drives connect with a wide , flat ribbon connector, and the newer, SATA drives take a smaller cable.
They are easy to swap out, and are basically plug and play!
Most common problem is the "jumper" setting is wrong. You can do several things. Some you may already have done, but check it any way.
1. make sure the SATA cables are completely plugged in correctly. Power is plugged in.
2. Check the "jumper" on the back of the burner. Should be in "Slave" position even though the manual doesn't say it, it says "Master/Slave".
3. Go into "control panel", then to "system" then to "Hardware". Check to see if you have a "yellow !" for CD devices. If you do click on it and remove it. Close all windows and "restart".
That should fix it. If it doesn't, check the "compatability" of the Motherboard per Samsungs website. Some mother boards are just not compatible. Might not hurt to check that first before you do anything else.
