I am betting that you need to update the system which can be done on the garmin website, but the first thing you should do is contact Garmin to see if they know of a quick solution at 1-800-800-1020 (U.S.). You could possibly also have a loose connection inside the system.

Another thing to try is to remove all power sources to reset it, this would require removing the battery. By cut it off, I believe you mean turn it off correct?

These systems are known to have problems and contacting Garmin first is always a great way to see what may have gone wrong. Let me know how this goes and if you need help opening the unit, let me know.

Here is the link to upgrade the software

Garmin 2720 touch the (s) and the (T) responds

You need to recalibrate the touchscreen. Try this: Turn off the Nuvi. Place your finger on the upper left-hand corner of the screen and then push down on the power button to turn the unit on. Release the power button when the Garmin logo appears. Continue to press on the upper left-hand corner of the screen until you see the calibration screen.

Go through the entire procedure of pressing each dot as it appears on the screen.

Once completed the Nuvi will display Calibration Complete This will recalibrate your touchscreen to the LCD display.

If this doesn't resolves your problem. then your touchscreen may be defective.

Touch screen wont work after reset

My 2730 would not calibrate. I saw this on a forum and it worked like a charm.

1) Fill a bowl or sink with warm water and a small amount of neutral soap. AJAX worked for me!!!!
2) Turn the SP2xxx screen down towards the water and immerse the front of the unit in the water.
3) Using a *soft* toothbrush, *gently* clean around the frame edges of the screen. With care, the soft bristles should dislodge any foreign object that may have become lodged between the screen and the unit case.
4) Rinse the front of the unit under running water.
5) Gently dry the outside of the unit with a soft towel or cloth.
6) If desired, leave the unit in a warm airing cupboard overnight to completely dry out.

Hook up the unit and try it out! All reports I've read elsewhere reported that the touch screen worked again after this process. If it fails, you were going to send it back to Garmin anyway so you haven't lost anything by trying it. This worked and I plugged it in right after with hair drying on cool for a couple minutes.

Touchscreen stopped working

Some where else in this site it said to hold the menu and map button while powering it on. I did that and it fixed my touchscreen problem, however I did loose all data, but I have that saved on my PC.
