Eversince we hooked up our new router, N Ultra Range Plus Model # WRT160N, our playstation online play has not been working well. It takes forever to get into the games and then, when and if it lets me in, there is alot of connection interruptions and boots me off. I get discconnected alot more from the Playstation network. it will say no available network. Sometimes the singal is 100% and sometimes it's 17% and I am the only one online. Any ideas?

Linksys router will not work with my hp deskto

you will need to "set up" the router.
http://www.linksysbycisco.com/US/en/support
This is the support page for linksys, if you enter your model in the drop down box, you may see a "Easy Setup' or "assistant" software to help set it up, otherwise you can contact your ISP and they will walk you through entering the right settings.
You will usually have to enter 192.168.1.0, or something close in the address bar when you hook your router up and get pagecannot be displayed, type in that number (or the correct ip of the router) and it will get you to the router setup page.

Eee PC 900 has problem with wireless connection

Hi terryandy,

I am using the Eee PC from Taiwan also. It is running good.

Based on your scenario, have you tried changing another new router?

Your description of having "out of range" is highly probable due to router hardware failure.

Try replacing the router and update us again.

Thank you.

Can't get internet connection to my lap top.ps i have a desk top.

Is your laptop wireless adapter correctly configured? It may be set to only recieve certain types of signals (802.11b, when you may beed 802.11g etc), so check if the configuration of the laptop matches the configuration of the router.

To test if the laptop can get internet at all, try to get to a wired internet line (your wireless router may have some Ethernet ports on the back; laptops usually have Ethernet connectivity), just incase your laptop is set to block all internet signals coming in.

Hope this helps!

Limited or no connectivity to the internet. my setup: the telephone port is approx 30m from where i need internet access. Originally I had a dlink wireless router set up but was connected via cable, now...

On which port of the D-link router did you plug the WRT160N router?

Do this setup.

Disconnect the WRT160N from D-link.

Connect a computer to port 1 of the WRT160N. Access the setup page by typing 192.168.1.1 on the address bar. you may need to type in the username and password for WRT160N. on the setup page Change the LAN IP address from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.2.1. save the settings.

Connect a cable from port 1,2,3 or 4 of the D-link router to the Internet port of the WRT160N. turn off everything then turn them on starting from cable modem>D-link >WRT160N then computer.

You should be able to access the internet.

I'm replacing a Linksys BEFW11S4 router with a newer Linksys model WRT160N. What do I need to do to uninstall the old one, if anything. Do I need to delete all my current connections? Thanks, Mike

It should not require any changes - since you're going from Linksys to Linksys, the IP address of the router is the same (I believe). So shut down your computer (one with a wired connection to the router!), unplug the old router, unplug your modem, plug in the modem and wait until the lights settle down, plug in the new router and wait until the lights settle down, boot up your computer and wait until it's fully booted. Open a command prompt (Start Menu/Run/cmd) and type ipconfig /all - see if you have an IP address assigned in the range of 192.168.1.x . If so, open up a browser and see if you can access 192.168.1.1; it should demand a login, use your new router's default login (in the manual) and make the changes you want (including a new password!) - change the name of your wireless network, set up security, etc. As long as you make your SSID and security identical to what you had on the old router, it shouldn't require any configuration changes on the computers (though it may require a reboot to make them see the router properly after the changeover).

Replaced Linksys Wireless-B 2.4GHz 807.11b Router and Wireless B 2.4GHz 802.11b Wireless-B Notebook Adapter with Linksys-N Ultra Range Plus Wireless-N Gigabit Router, and Wireless N Ultra Range plus Dual...

Try resetting your IP address:
The laptop may be trying to use the IP address from the old router.

1) Click Start (assuming Windows 2000, XP, or Vista)
2) Click Run
3) Type in CMD
This will take you to a black command box
4) Type in: ipconfig/release
The chart should show your IP address as 0.0.0.0
Once this has happened, proceed to step 5
5) Type in: ipconfig/renew
You should now see a new IP address listed.

Also note that you need to set up your network key (assuming that you are using one) on both the router and laptop.
Make sure that your router is set up to perform as DHCP server.
