Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

The software can be found on Sandisk's website
If the computer does not have a USB 2.0 port, it won't have enough power to successfully run the Sansa

I need a driver for my sandisk sansa clip 2GB MP3 player

Xp should recognize it. Soudls like a problem with XP drivers. Leave the device connected and go t windows update and check the other drivers section. You can also open Media player and check for sync status and it should find the drivers or go to Sandisks web site of course and they should have a driver. It is a basic driver nothing spectacular.

Hi sansa clip 2gb

You might have vista, which is compatible with nothing. Go to the Sandisk website, and get the up-to-date software for Vista. If you have a Mac or Linux, forget it.

Sansa clip mp3 player 2GB shows as UNKNOWN DEVICE when i connect

Sandisk website will have it, and will have the vista compatible software:
http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/Default.aspx?CatID=1376

here is the link for the sansa updater.

Ok...here is something you might want to do....I know you already formatted your device a zillion times already but please do it one more time using the Format option under Settings menu in your device....then restart your computer....then plug in your computer again after restarting to see if it recognizes now.....if not...here is one thing you could do....go to this link

http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html

download the USBDeView software and see if the registry has the player in there....select it and delete it and then plug in your PC again to see if it will re-register the device and works...hope this will help.

Windows ME is going to provide you with a world of frustration as far as Mp3 players are concerned - I upgraded to XP just because of this issue. Services that worked with ME even a year ago no longer work - the support is dropping daily.

Check Sansa's website, but you are not supposed to need any drivers to get it to work with ME.

The drivers necessary are part of Windows Media player 10, or higher. As long as you have Windows XP / SP2, or Vista and Windows Media Player, your device will work with your computer.
