Dropping wireless connection

Just installed Verizon fios TV and broadband. The broadband has never worked properly. The router is dropping the connection even though everything looks like I am connected and working ok. I have changed the settings from automatic to channel 11, but that did not solve the problem.
When I had Verizon broadband before, I had a d-link router and never had a problem, but this actiontec router is a real loser. I would appreciate any suggestions from anyone.
Glad that I am on a mont-to-month, because I am cancelling soon.

I constantly get dropped connection. Verizon has had me change phone & ethernet cords, moved to a different phone jack. The problemstill persists.

Never know if I can make or even stay connected.

The problem may not be with your router. I had a situation a year ago with the modem dropping the signal everyday. I spent hours on the phone with verizon tech support to no avail. They sent someone out to my home and he put a filter on the main line coming into the house which didn't resolve the issue. Then verizon insisted the modem was bad so they sent me an actiontec. Turns out that the problem had nothing to do with me. They try to squeeze as much bandwith at their switching stations as they can. They switched me over to another hub and viola no more problem.

The service is AMAZING from the FIOS. I would dump the actiontec router, and use a d-link or linksys. Verizon will be able to help you set it up

This is a highly technical question. The technician that installs your fios can help you with an answer. If i'm not mistaken your new fios will come with a special router designed to change the data your recieving to acceptable format and communicate with your other devices. As I stated the tech who installs your fios can further instruct you as to the exact configuration. Hope this helps.

Westell A90-9100EM wireless router cant make it work

Hello angiegall366,

The Westell A90-9100EM wireless router should be able to connect to the Motorola 2210. Follow the instructions in the Motorola 2210 User guide:

Dkt-410 wireless router keeps dropping connection

Make sure that your computer works properly when connected directly to the modem without the router.
If that is working properly and not dropping the connection then the Internet service is working.
If it is dropping, then you will need to check the modem or call ISP.

If your computer works properly when connected directly to the modem then you will need to check the settings of the router. I think you will need to upgrade the Firmware of the router.
For this you will need to connect a computer to the router and open the set up page of the router. After upgrading the firmware, you will need to reset and reconfigure the router.

The connection on my router is very breakable,

Are you speaking about the wireless connection or wired also ?
if the wired connection is also dropping then try to reduce the MTU settings on the router. if it is set to 1500 then change it to 1365.
or you can try to upgrade the firmware of the router.

I suspect that Verizon is degrading service to forcr users to mig

Anything is possible but it would take a lot of work to jam wireless signals. As a communications company, Verizon, if caught would be in hot water with the FCC. I have an idea. Are you able to change channels on your wireless and try it. Also, is there anyway you could try a different wireless router? If FIOS is coming in, there may be maintenance changes in the infrastructure that effect your internet performance.

Cannot Network printers on FIOS system

If both computers are connected to the router. Try turning off the firewall on both computers first. normally its firewalls blocking file and printer sharing that block the connection.
