Question about Actiontec GT704WG Wireless Router (gs583ad3-01)
Just installed Verizon fios TV and broadband. The broadband has never worked properly. The router is dropping the connection even though everything looks like I am connected and working ok. I have changed the settings from automatic to channel 11, but that did not solve the problem.
When I had Verizon broadband before, I had a d-link router and never had a problem, but this actiontec router is a real loser. I would appreciate any suggestions from anyone.
Glad that I am on a mont-to-month, because I am cancelling soon.
The problem may not be with your router. I had a situation a year ago with the modem dropping the signal everyday. I spent hours on the phone with verizon tech support to no avail. They sent someone out to my home and he put a filter on the main line coming into the house which didn't resolve the issue. Then verizon insisted the modem was bad so they sent me an actiontec. Turns out that the problem had nothing to do with me. They try to squeeze as much bandwith at their switching stations as they can. They switched me over to another hub and viola no more problem.

The service is AMAZING from the FIOS. I would dump the actiontec router, and use a d-link or linksys. Verizon will be able to help you set it up
