I am looking for a local repairman tht may be able to fix a camcorder. I have reason to believe that the motor is misaligned. The camera can play and recdord on tapes opay, but it makes a "jittery" noise whenever I rewind a tape. It has even messed up one small part of a tape on one occasion. Any suggestions?

Firstly, the camera has stopped responding to the zoom lever. It does not appear to be a mechanical problem since it is not just the lens that will not respond. I am equally unable to zoom-in to enlarge the pictures I?ve taken on the review screen. If it were simply the zoom switch, I would have expected a period of unreliabilty first but the problem appeared suddenly, immediately after I had returned from a holiday on which the camera had worked perfectly. Secondly, the main circular control ?D? pad became unreliable, either at the same time or shortly afterwards. The flash control button on the left should bring-up a flash menu which stays on the screen long enough for you to select an appropriate setting. Instead, the menu appears for a split-second before disappearing again, making adjustment difficult/impossible. The macro button at the bottom switches on the macro setting but will not switch it off (I have to switch off the whole camera). If the camera is switched on for a while (around 45 seconds), even without touching the buttons, they usually recover their functions but the problem immediately returns if the camera is switched off and on again. (Not typical of poor button contact?). Thus the problems do not seem to be with the buttons themselves as they work 100% reliably for their alternative use of operating the menu screens. All the other buttons appear to work as intended. I suspect the trouble is somewhere in the camera?s ?brain? so have tried updating the firmware on the off-chance that that would help but without any noticeable difference. The battery is fully charged and the camera has had no rough treatment. The camera is just under two years old so is not under warranty. It was delivered with faulty movie sound and six months later the lens stuck half open. Ricoh fixed both these problems under warranty. I am otherwise very happy with the camera which currently could still be used as a simple wide angle automatic but I would really appreciate advice on regaining its full abilities with an economical solution.
