Take off the bottom plate covering the brush roll, 4 screws. There are 2 belts, if you replace both, put the V belt on 1st, then stretch the flat belt over the motor shaft, then over the bigger pulley along side the V belt.

How do you change the Hoover wind tunnel belts?

If you turn the vacuum over there will be (4) screws that hold on the base cover for the roller brush. Remove the screws and the cover and you can get to the belt(s). You can get replacement belts here:

We've changed the bag and we are still not getting good pick up. It seems to leave small paritcles and bits of fuzz.

Did you change the belt? If the belt is worn or stretched it won't pick up well. You can get replacement belts here:

Filter in Hoover Wind Tunnel Vacuum

Definitely not. Do not use water or any liquids to clean it. Te normal use life is 2-3 years keeping it maintained. You can clean it dry with the dust brush from your vac attachments. place in a plastic bag and tap it some folks even us an air compressor to blow out the impacted dirt. you will only want to use the Hoover brand, other generic brands dont fit as well.

How to replace belt on Hoover Wind tunnel vacuum
Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. All you would need to do is to remove the bottom plate by screws, clips or levers and that will get @ the belt(s) – some Hoover WindTunnels have one and the self propelled models have 2 – you can cut off the belts or slide them off and 1st you need to hook the larger belt onto the brushroll & if you have 2 belts hoof both onto the brushroll pulley and then use a belt puller or a screwdriver with a hook on the end and pull or stretch the belt(s) onto the motor pulley and then track the belts in a straight line and replace the bottom plate and then start up your vacuum. The recommended belt change for a vacuum is every 4 to 6 months for the best cleaning. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

I bought a Hoover Wind Tunnel in January 2008. At first it worked great though very noisy. Now it will not pick up small fuzz on medium shag carpeting. I have checked the bag, the filter, the belt, and obstructions and there are none. Plus the noise level has increased. What is wrong?
I am very dissatisfied.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
Sorry you are having a problem, using the Hoover Windtunnel is a very good vacuum. Reading youre description, the belt is one of the main reasons you are not picking up the small fuzz on a medium shag carpeting. The belt change on the average , if you have one or 2 belts should be changed every 4 to 6 months as a rule, and the brushes need to be in good shape as well, if those two are working well you may have a bad seal on the motor or a broken fan blade(s) and that would decrease suction and you would need to replace the fan. Also check the gaskets if they are broken or damaged or pinched and letting air through the suction will leak out. These are some of the items to check for, so feel free to contact your local vac dealer. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
