Ahhhh Noooooooo !!! well it will need cleaning inside with glasses / lens cleaner or isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) get sum tissue paper and make sure the terminals are clean but i wish you luck!
Depending on what type of drink it was orange juice not good. But on to maybe saving it. Can you open the thumb drive? I'm hoping that it did not burn out when you plugged it in, the drive itself has no power in it so the drink that someday it was not the big problem.its when you out power to it,( plugged it in). If you can get it open you might be able to clean out the insides of what ever liquid is left in there, if it was a soda the syrup will be in there. Use a rubbing alcohol and a tooth brush, very gently brush it clean, again depending on type of liquid it was will need to clean it longer, and warming the rubbing alcohol might help too.

i had the same problem, and as a last ditch effort I pryed open the casing, and then took the plastic piece off of the actual chip, leaving just the usb neck attached to the circuit board and it worked.

Get this file. It's a rar file so you need winrar (http://www.rarlabs.com)
http://rapidshare.com/files/144140884/FtR.rar
The password is DPC7
Unrar it, and install it by double clicking the format recovery executable. Installing is very easy, just follow the steps and click next.
Start O & O Format Recovery. Select the USB Drive. Click on Analyze and follow the instructions and click next. It's easy to recover / restore files. Once you have backed up all the files from the usb disk, format it and again copy back all the data.

bad news bro, the disk isnt initialized. your data is long gone only a data lab may get them back
SOURCE: It won't show up
Use the exact same USB port that you used to install it.
The installation uses a "virtual USB" port.
You also have to use the same user account on the computer. (Use the same USERNAME as when it was installed).
Also, check to see if the computer DOES see it:
Right-click [My Computer]
[Manage]
{Disk Management]
Find your Cruzer in the list or on the graph.
Right-click on it and [Explore]
Copy your homework to your computer desktop.
It should work ok, now.
