Dyson dc04 absolute

Hi Chris,

I wonder if you could please help me? I think that I need to replace the belt on this, as the bar is not turning. I have bought a replacement belt, there are two in the packet but I cannot find how to get to the belts. I have taken of the plate on the bottom but I still cannot remove it and I have tried to undo it from the top, but I am still having no luck as I am sure that I do not have to dismantel it completely. Oh, by the way when I turn the brush bar by hand the belt revolves but when I plug it in it does not turn. Any help you could give me I would be most grateful for. Thank you.
Kind regards,
Diana

    Hi Chris,

Thanks for the reply. Please don't think that I am thick, but I think I was having a (blonde) silver moment for me. lol. But I have since found, as you have rightly said in your reply, that the brush roller was not in drive, someone had moved it to the wrong position and wouldn't you know it, but it was the last thing I tried after I had posted this question. Once again, thank you very much for you help, it was much appreciated.

Hi Diana.

Your Dyson has A clutch this has 2 belts, One goes clutch to motor the second goes clutch to brush roller.

You have either A snapped motor to clutch belt or the clutch control knob is not rotating to drive position when you pull the handle back to clean carpets.

Firstly check the control knob this is situated on the front lower left hand side of machine.
EG if your machine is silver & yellow the knob will be yellow approx 2" or 5cm in diameter as I said ensure it moves from off or park to drive if it doesnt move rotate it by hand when you have lowered the handle to vac carpet.

If still no brush roller drive you will need to strip machine down to remove the clutch & gain acces to the belts.

Its A lot of work to explain so try this site http://dysonmanuals.llc.nu/ for clutch removing manual can send via email very quickly.

Brush is not rotating

Hi Barbara, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC33's brush bar will only rotate when the vacuum cleaner is turned on and reclined into the normal vacuuming position, and the brush control is set to 'Carpets':

If the vacuum cleaner is standing upright, or set to 'hard floors', the brush bar will not rotate.

If you're confident the brush control is set correctly, but the brush bar won't rotate when the machine is turned on and reclined, please contact our experts directly so we can talk you through some further troubleshooting checks. If a repair is needed, we can also confirm if this is covered under your Dyson warranty.

You can reach us by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

Brush roller will not rotate on Dyson dc04 absolute

The brush will not rotate when the machine is upright. The brush only rotates when it is reclined; in use.
On the side of the housing where you place your foot to recline it is a round knob. Turn it one click clockwise if you can; to the "auto" position.
If the brush doesn't turn then when the machine is reclined, it needs attention to the belt and/or clutch mechanism.
