Question about Casio Exilim EX-V7 Digital Camera
Like the others, every time i turn my camera on i get the error message that the camera stabilizer is not available. i haven't used my camera in several months, nor attempted to upload any pics. i saw that the solution said to update the firewire, how do i go about doing that? any other ideas?
The new firmware (I think your mention of firewire was an error) is available here: http://world.casio.com/qv/download/en/ex_v7_firmup/ just click on agree at the bottom of the screen and you will be taken to a page where you are to enter the serial number of the camera. Once you download the firmware you are to copy it to the root or either the camera's built in memory or a memory care either by using the camera's USB dock or a card reader. More instructions are probably included with the download, but it should simply install once you copy the file and restart the camera.
If the firmware update does not help your camera then there is most likely something wrong with the image stabilizing mechanism. This could be as simple as a stuck gear or misaligned guide so taking the camera appart might reveal the problem. If it's related to the electronics or mechanical parts then you may be better off purchasing a brand new camera if yours is not under warranty.
