It doesn't spin If your washer won't spin, check these:

It doesn't pump or spin
It pumps, but doesn't spin
It spins only with the lid closed
It doesn't pump or spin If it doesn't pump water out or spin, check to see if the motor is running, then proceed as follows:

  • If the motor is running, your washer probably has a frozen pump pulley or a broken pump belt. To check the pulley, remove the pump from the washer and try to rotate the pulley manually. If it doesn't turn freely--if it's frozen or stiff--replace it. If the pump belt is broken or looks quite worn, replace it--but be sure to check the pump pulley before you change the belt.

  • If the motor isn't running, the lid switch may be defective. If so, the washing machine can't spin and may not function at all. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washing machine to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.

It pumps, but doesn't spin If your washer pumps out the water but doesn't spin, check these:

  • The lid switch may be defective. If it is, the washing machine doesn't spin. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washing machine to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.

  • The motor coupler may be broken. Many Whirlpool®-manufactured washers use a small, relatively inexpensive motor coupling. It's plastic and rubber and is mounted to the shaft of the motor on one side, and to the transmission on the other. Over time, the coupler wears out and fails. You may need to replace it.

  • A belt may be broken. Many washing machines have one or two belts. If a belt is broken or badly worn, you need to replace it with a genuine belt from the manufacturer. (Some washing machine belts are designed with special characteristics not found in automotive belts.)

  • The clutch may be worn. If your washer is a GE, it may use a clutch to come up to the proper spin speed. As the clutch wears out, it may prevent the unit from spinning well or at all. If the clutch is worn, you need to replace it. For this job, you probably want to hire a qualified appliance repair technician.

  • The drive motor may be defective. Many washer brands use a reversing motor. For agitation the motor runs in one direction, for spinning and draining, the other. It's possible for a motor to burn out in one direction and continue to operate in the other. If this happens, you need to replace the entire motor.

  • The transmission may not be shifting properly. Older washers produced by Whirlpool® have a transmission with an electro-mechanical shifter. If the shifter becomes even partially defective, the unit may drain the water but not spin. This is a complex system, if your washer has a shifter problem, you may want to hire a qualified appliance repair technician to repair it.

  • The spin bearing or basket drive may be worn or seized. These components allow the inner tub to spin freely inside the outer tub. When this is the problem, you usually hear a loud sound during the spin cycle. Call a qualified appliance repair technician.

It spins only with the lid closed For safety, washing machines are made so that they spin only with the lid closed. The lid switch prevents the spinning action when the lid is up.

In a front-loading washing machine the agitation is provided by a drum in the center of the washer. If this drum does not spin the agitation cannot occur and the clothes will not be cleaned properly. If the drum is not spinning, make sure that there are no clothes jammed around the drum or stuck in the drum assembly. An unbalanced load can also cause the drum to stop spinning, so unload the washer and carefully load the clothes back in before calling a repair person. Make sure the washer is sitting perfectly level--if one of the feet on the bottom of the washer has come loose this could unbalance the washer enough to cause problems with the drum.

My aqualitis aqxxf149pi is displaying h20 error code, filling correctly at start of wash cycle but mid cycle starting to add excessive water before it goes on drain and spin resulting in flooding

H20 is a water warning. The machine THINKS it has no water coming in (Hence it continues to fill and fill because it can''t see the water). 99% of the time, this is a blocked rubber pipe that goes to the pressure sensor. Water in the drum fills the bottom of the rubber pipe and as the water rises, the air pressure in the pipe increases, which operates a bellows device in the pressure sensor. If the pipe is blocked, the pressure sensor won't operate and it will continue to try to fill until it times out. There COULD be a wire off the sensor or a wire that goes to the sensor loose on the main board, there could even be a failed component on the main board, but all of these scenarios are ar less likely than a blocked pressure sensor pipe. Take the lid off, pull the pipe off the bottom of the sensor, blow down it hard and this may well clear the blockage. Put the pipe back on the sensor and test. Come back if you need more advice

Please help the washer fills up and turns the

Seems like a blockage or maybe pump worn out. Fill machine and take grey outlet pipe on rear of machine. Place this pipe as low as possible into a bowl. If water flows free from this pipe then your pipes are not blocked and most likely you will need to change your pump. Before you try this just put machine onto spin and ensure this will work when machine is almost empty

Machine will not drain or spin

Machine wont go to spin while water still in drum. Check outlet hose to see if you have a blockage. to do this take the outlet pipe and lay it into a bowl on the floor, if water flows out then it is likly to be your pump not working.

When hotpoint aquarius starts washing cycle, water comes out of soap dispensing tray. is there a blockage in the pipe to the drum . i allways use liquids instead of powders, so i find a pipe blockage as...

It could have over filled, or the drum is turning too fast, or there is a blockage in the dispenser hose. To accessw the hose, remove the top cover, and give the hose a good squeeze to clear any possible blockage.
There is little else it could be, so I am afraid it is a process of elmination.
Good luck.

Hotpoint WT540 1400 spin Washing Machine stuck on cycle

Could be a sticking water level switch, which controls the water level, or a blockage in the hose to the switch, or a trapped or split hose to the switch. the hose in question is about 6mm in diam, and goes from the sump hose to the pressure switch,if u remove the hose from the preesure switch chamber, check for a blockage there, and blow down the hose to see if it is clear, u should hear the switch click if it is clear, if no click and hose is clear, then I wud say the switch is faulty.
Plz rate my comments.
Thanks

Not draining and flooding my kitchen!

hiya
first off norah, you will need to check the pump filter as there is probably a blockage in there.

secondly guest, sounds like a faulty pressure switch or even a small hole in the pressure pipe, thats why your machine will not stop filling.

hope these help

please dont forget to rate the helpfulness of this reply thanks kj

Hotpoint - wont go into spin!

two possible causes motor commutator is damaged thats the bit the brushes sit on.put your finger on the commutator turn slowly and feel for raised segments or damage if there are any then this is you problem. if that is ok check you brushes have a good length and can make contact. if this is ok then check you card for damage.the filling/water level problem could be due to the limit switch pipework blockage at the base thats the small plastic pipe usual blocked into drum very common in old machines. hope this helps
