These replacement parts are shipped with a solder bridge to short the laser as a precaution for static electricity. Did you remove the solder bridge once the optics were installed?

There should be 2 copper pads on the optical assembly that are connected by a blob of solder. Remove this solder and the pads will no longer be connected. This will remove the short circuit allowing the optics to work properly.

The disc has appeared to stop rotating. The info window continously says "reading".

DVD/CD Read/Write process: 1. The tray or carriage places the disc into the spindle or motor. 2. The spindle motor locks into place to prepare motor to spin - the disc is in free space and does not touch anything except the spindle motor. 3. The laser assembly moves into home position and attempts to focus on the disc by emitting infrared light to disc. 4. If a disc is present, the light should reflect back to the laser lens as the lens attempts to focus on the light - you will notice the lens moving up and down to focus. The lens should NOT touch anything. 5. Upon a successful focus, the spindle motor spins. 6. Data is read and sent to a buffer for decoding. 7. Success.

I herd a strange clicking noise from my ps2

It sounds like the laser assembly has become faulty, the clicking you hear may be the sled mechanism trying to move and put the laser into place so that it can read the game, or could be the spindle motor trying to spin the disc for the laser to read it. My recommendation is to replace the whole laser assembly, which includes the sled mechanism as well as the spindle motor and laser. Good Luck.

Hello my ps2 dont spin it not the lens can u tell me what worng with it or how to fix it the part that you put the disk on dont spin

The spindle (spin) motors don't usually go out. The most common reason for the game to not spin is the laser. If the laser doesn't see a disc then it will not try to spin it. You can pick up a new laser off of ebay for less than $10

PS2 Slimline Lens Makes Cluttering Sound!

It is possable that you damaged the arm that moves the laser up and down the spindle motor, this could need replaceing, but you should check the position of the motor on the laser bed frirst and that all the screws are tight as any loosenesss in this area will cause problems, also make sure that the rails the laser assembly is seated on have grease on them and are not dry.

My ps2 slimline doesnt work the spindle

If the laser doesn't see a disc, then it will not try to spin. First try cleaning the laser eye with a q-tip and some rubbing alcohol. If this doesn't work, then the laser has probably gone out. A new laser can be purchased on ebay for less than $10.00

PS2 slimline dropped on floor. Comes up saying 'can not read disc' Cleaned the lens.

This could be a few things. The most common problem I have seen after a unit has been dropped is the spindle that moves the laser back and forth comes out of the socket. Disassemble the unit and reinstall the spindle in the socket. Sometimes the laser goes out. New lasers can be purchased on ebay for less than $10.00. It could also be one of the two switches that lets the system know when the lid is closed. One of the switches is located on top of the power switch board and the other is located on the motherboard near the back left corner of the laser deck.

Ps2 slim spindle dont spin

If your spindle has stopped spinning, it will most likely be 1 of 2 problems. Either your spindle motor has burnt up, or even though it is very unlike, a lead wire that supplies the power to the spindle has became disconnected. Now, if the case it the burnt up spindle motor, there are hundreds of motors for every kind of PS on, of course, E-Bay. If the problem is for some reason, a soldered wire has broken from the motor. It is very simple to re-attach the lead with a quick touch from a soldering iron. I hope this has helped.

Disc doesnt spin , the lens dont move up and down , only lights red

Sounds like a motor issue, not a laser issue.

That link is for a new snake motor which moves the laser back and forth

This link is for a new spindle motor.

PS2 Disc does not spin

just because you see read doesn't mean the laser is good.
the laser has to read the toc (table of contents) for it to read the toc it must be at the beginning, it must be at the right depth from lens to cd and the spindle must spin. now if you have to spin the spindle that means it most like is not reaching the beginning of the cd or the spindle motor is bad.
