Adapter stopped working

Adapter suddenly stopped working. No longer showing any lights. Tried on several computers. Do these units have a relatively short life? Can they be repaired?

My EUB-9702 suddenly stopped working on one computer. I tried another EUB-9702 adapter but same result. Then I tried to update the driver to 2.0.0.3 using a newer CD but the older driver won't...

Have you tried to uninstall the driver through the Control Panel first, before trying to update the driver? Not all updates will delete the old driver for you. If that doesn't work, you best off contact the company or first run through their FAQs for a possible solution. I had a similar problem and had to reinstall Windows (and all my software).

Wireless adapter has suddenly stopped working.

First unplug your adapter and boot your computer. It wouldn;t hurt to reboot it once as well. This should clear out any settings. When it has fully booted up only then insert the adapter into a different usb port. If it recognizes it and works it can indicate a usb problem.

If it finds it but doesn't connect a adapter problem. You can uninstall it and reinstall the drivers and it might work. If not replace. If it does nothing then its died on you and your adapter needs to be replaced.

Most adapters and home network units (wifi routers etc) only last for 1-2 years before they act up or die on you. Very annoying and can be expensive. I have a stack of wifi routers where the wifi isn;t reliable but the rest works. And a drawer full of various wifi adapter that are detected but not connected and a few just plain dead ones. All of them seem to fail at about the same time after purchase.

Xbox wirless adapter

I had the same problem last week. Xbox Support says I need a new adapter, so I figured I would tinker around with the broken one. On the USB connector itself, there is a outer stainless shroud, and the inner black piece with the gold contacts on it. What happens is the wifi adapter contacts no longer touch the console contacts, hence the light never comes on and the console doesn't recognize it. I stuck a screwdriver between the stainless shroud and the black connector plate, and made the gap a little bigger, now the adapter works perfectly. I think this is a design flaw, as I never move the console or adapter, but over time, the pressure from the USB cable makes the contacts loose and it eventually no longer touches. Saved me $100 bucks.

Wireless card suddenly cannot detect any signals

I would suspect ya adapter.. the ONLY way to sort it is to try it in another PC see if it works.. USB devices seem to be very flimsy and we get heaps of 'em in the shop.. 9 times outa 10 it's the USB device gone weird.. substitution is the only way to isolate the problem.

I have had a D-link wireless adaptor that has worked for years. I would say the device was faulty.
