Unable to install ms office 2007, upgrading from Office 2003

Im upgrading MS Office 2007 from MS office 2003 and getting the error 25004 config.xml not specified a valid config.xml must be authored when deploying null

I am not able to remove or re-install the upgrade. Ive been able to reinstall MS office 2003 and its working. However when i go to upgrade to 2007 gets halfway through with this error

I wonder if the permissions of c:\program files\microsoft\office\office12 are at fault, as i cannot simply click on it and press delete

I am running on vista.....

Im getting to a point where i want to format pc!! Havent been able to find anything on google......Can you please please help

Unfortunately i didnt have the time to get to the problem of the fault, however i believe it was due to the config.xml file being black or may be in the wrong location......

Resolved by formatting the pc and starting all over again. Now working.........

Hi,
please first uninstall all the existing versions of MS Office. Then try to clean temporary files, cache and registry using tools like cCleaner (freely availavle), then install MS Office.

if you want to install only MS Office 2007, no need to install MS office 2003 and upgrade. directly install MS Office 2007.

If you want to keep both, pleas install MS office 2003 first, then MS office 2007, please dont uograde it, rather select Keep both version.

Please make sure that you have admin permission before doing all this and your system is free from any virus.
Thanks

SOURCE: Problem installing office 2007.

You need to uninstall any pre-release version of the Microsoft Office 2007 system .

it seems that if you have a version of the 2007 Microsoft Office Add-in or Microsoft Save as PDF or XPS installed, this may be the culprit. In both cases, by performing an uninstall on this add-in via the Control Panel, and then installing Expression Web, everything works okay. You can even re-install the Office 2007 add-in when you're done.

Hello there.

If you have previous versions of MS Office 2007 they must be uninstalled prior to installing a different version. Please try this first and report back.

Hope this helps.

If the version of windows installed on your computer is not activated you would face issues to use any applications once the product is expired.

But if you have an issue with office programs with an error 25004 on an activated version of windows
Then the reason might be corrupted installation of office 2007 on the computer.
Uninstall office 2007 manually from the computer then
re-install it and check if it helps.

Try renaming the install directory. Normal install is located C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12. Rename office12 to office12bak (just in case you need to put it back again). This will normally allow you to reinstall office again.
