Question about Sony Walkman WM-D6C Personal Cassette Player

Repair to my WM_D6C made worse by "SONY" !!!

A few months ago I sent my SONY WM_D6C to "SONY" service in Pencoed , Wales . The symptons of the fault were VERY LOW VOLUME in playback mode .When I received the unit back there were several marks on the unit that were not there previously. As for the volume fault , that was not repaired...infact when I finally had the unit returned to me I found that TWO of the base were missing and that the base was held on precariously held on by one screw,, with the other screw found in the bottom of the plastic bag the unit was packed in .Somebody had removed TWO resistors and stuck them under a peice of black insulating tape , and then declared the unit "BEYOND ECONOMICAL REPAIR " The unit was playing abeit at LOW VOLUME. I wrote to SONY about this matter and did not even get the courtesy of reply..Extremely HACKED OFF, IAN ROSS

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

My sony wm-d6c appears to be running at double speed can I fix this easily

Your set is running wild because the motor has lost the regulation.Hence you will need to replace the motor. It is also possible that the belt had jumped and got into the large end of the pulley to make the capstan spin higher. So remove and check both of these sectiions and confirm. Hope this sorrt yourr fault.Good day

My Sony Walkman Professional WM-D6C will turn on but the take-up spindle just slowly inches the tape along in short bursts, not a continious action.

Contact me at my email doctor.walkman @ gmail.com, I'll ask you some questions and some photos of the WM-D6C in his possession. We will solve the problem

No sound coming out the headphones

Try the line out on the back of the unit and see if sound signal comes out there U must plug that into a preamp on your stereo the signal level is to low for the headphones to sound and if there is sound then u have a blown output amp in the headphones circuit!

Plays too fast

WMD6C has a pitch control on the back of the unit that can change the speed of the tape, so switch it off, but if that is not the problem then inside the unit it has a servo set speed pot on the main board.
