I have the same problem with usb to lpt1 Canon LBP810 printer. Change cable to BAFO type as well as ATEN. All do not work. ATEN claims to be VISTA compatible. Not true. They should be charged for misrepresentation.

I do not have a canon LBP-800 printer driver for my windows XP.

I found your drivers, click here, choose your Operative system, there is no driver for windows XP but you can use a windows 2000 driver, sometimes they work, then choose a language that fits your needs, then click on continue and choose the driver you want from the list

Canon LBP 800 and Vista

To solve this problem i used VMWare with Windows XP (also Ubuntu worked fine):
1. Install LBP-800 on vistual PC use real LPT1 and virtual one.
2. Set Cannon LBP-800 share mode.
3. Setup workgroup network:  my real computer and virtual.
4. Install LBP-800 on my real PC as a network printer

I need to install my Canon LBP-800 printer with Windows XP

Cut and paste Canon LBP-800 from above, then paste that in to google search bar and go to the first Canon listing, download your driver.
