Projector restarts after 30 minutes or so

I have been putting up with a grinding fan noise in my projector for some time. Recently the projector has started to restart in a 30 minute cycle. The time is not exact, but it seems to be within 20 to 30. After that the bulb shuts of and restarts, then after 20 to 30, here we go again.
The lamp has only 1300 hours on it and I run it in econo mode at all times.

Hi jamble77

This sounds like a faulty Ballast ( lamp's powersupply ) if it made a grinding noise and now the Projector shuts on and off intermittently.

I would advise you to rather have the part replaced than repaired , as in most cases the Ballast almost always returns with the same problem if repaired a couple of months down the line.

turn it on when sitting on a table right side up. If possible, take the cover off and support carefully nearby the unit. Then slowly rotate the unit upside down and notice when the noise starts to get worse. Have a look at the fan area and see if there is anything that's causing the fan to make a worse noise. perhaps the bearings are getting worn out or something's not as titgh and vibration is being amplified by the fan unit.

Possible problem is the faulty lamp cooling fan. Check the lamp cooling fan of your projector. maybe its has some problem.Do one thing, Remove the fan from the projector. In the fan there will be a specification sticker. Remove the sicker. now u can see a hole in the center. its the bearing part of the fan. put one drop of oil in it. u can use any type of lubricating oil. rotate the fan leafs with finger for some time. after that re-stick the spec sticker. insert the fan in the projector.

i have added a video how to oil the fan for make it easy for you.

In Focus Ask Proxima M2+ has a squeaking noise and the image flickers. After about 30 minutes the unit goes to standby.

Bearing on the fan is probably shot, causing the unit to heat up and shut down. Repair would more than likely exceed the replacement value of the projector.

My projector will run for a time between 20 minutes and 2 hours and then it shuts down. It will start right back up (takes 3-5 minutes for it to cool and then restart) after that. What could be wrong?

It could be overheating. Can you hear a fan running? Does the projector feel hot to the touch?
Try putting a small house fan on it to cool it and see if that helps.

It sounds like it is overheating. Are the fans all working? If so, try opening the casing and blowing all the dust out with a can of air from Staples/Office Depot. If the fans aren't working you may need to replace them.

Dvd10 optoma projector makes a loud noise

Hi, I'm not sure if it's the same problem I had..
I had it on picture mute, for maybe 15 mins, which may not have been a good idea. While it was muted, it made a sparking sound, and then a very loud grinding noise. When turned off, the lound noise stops, and the fan continues as usual for about a minute. As soon as it's turned back on, the grinding noise is back. But the logo seemed to display ok.

I took it in for repairs, and they said they needed to replace the color wheel to fix the problem.
