Question about Archos AV700 TV Digital Media Player

Unable to charge battery

The power adapter connection is loose, and I was wondering if anyone knew the best way to open it up. It seems like it should be an easy fix, but I just want to be sure.

I have the same problem, I cant charge the battery after a lot of hard work i managed to get my Archos open and found that there isn't actualy anything wrong with the actual power connection as i checked with a multimeter and i was getting 5volts through the connection. so i'm not to sure why the device isn't chargeing because there is power going through!

It's not an easy fix, and doing so would void the warranty - it would be best to call archos and see if you are still under warranty to get a replacement. If you do not want to do this, I would go to a repair shop or the Geek Squad - they will charge an arm and a leg. Unlike other electronic products, there is no way to unscrew this unit or 95% of other Mp3/Mp4 players.

Hi there.I ve got this strange problem with my satelite Toshiba A200 1AB laptop.the problem is with the battery actually it wont charge when I plug in the charger with battery in it.But when I extract the...

Is the AC Power adapter the original adapter of the laptop? If it is, try to drain the battery and charge it for 8-12 hours without using or opening the laptop just charge it. After charging, remove the power adapter as you open your laptop. Make this way a habbit of using and charging your laptop to make the charging and battery life last long.

Dell laptop Will not charge, brand new charger still ran on the lil battery charge that was left in it. Wondering if the part that plugs in is loose or what u may think the problem is, thanks alot!

There could be a problem with the battery. A fast check to determine whether you have a problem with the power adapter, power cord or the laptop's battery is to turn off the laptop, remove the battery, connect the power adapter, turn on the laptop & see if it works.
If the laptop works directly from the power adapter with the battery removed, then the power adapter is good. In this case we can suspect that the battery is defective & needs to be replaced.

The adapter which plugs into the laptop seems like it doesnt work

Check power adapter’s DC plug that connects into the laptop power socket with a multi-meter, the voltage should be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on the bottom of the adapter. If the voltage is zero or way below the voltage that is printed on the label then the power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced.
If the adapter is OK then connect it to the laptop and power it up, then look at the power/battery charging LED light and wriggle the power plug in the laptop's power socket. If the power/battery LED light flashes and in a certain position this LED light stays firm, then the power socket is either faulty or it has a dry solder joint where it is connected to the motherboard.
This can be repaired but it requires the laptop to be completely dismantled to get at this power socket and repair. I suggest you get a quote first.

Problem charging my laptop. I have to wiggle and trick it to charge it.

Seems that either the power socket in the laptop has a loose connection, or the battery terminals are not having good contact with the metal prongs connecting it to the laptop charging circuitry.
A quick check to see if the power socket has a loose connection is to remove the battery & power the laptop only from the adapter. If the laptop works from the adapter without having to be wiggled, then the problem is not with the power socket. Instead, it is the battery contacts. Try to clean the contacts using a non-oily contact cleaner & see if this resolves the problem.

Ac adapter does not connect to battery

You either have a faulty ac adapter; a bad power supply in your laptop; a bad battery; or a blown LED indicator light.
1. If the connection is not loose when you plug in your ac adapter try letting the laptop charge for a while. (If you are using the correct ac adapter)
2. Try removing your battery and using the ac adapter. If this works the battery is bad.
3. Try a new ac adapter.
4. Power supply is bad

My iBook G4 Won't Charge

Sir, to help you solve your problem I need a few details. 1. What is the input source?--in my country power input is 240V AC at 50 Hz.
2. What is the adapter config? Tha t is the 'mA' and 'V' rating on the adapter.
3. If it is a loose connection on the adapter(as it seems to be in your case) you can slap it and get some results for sometime. It that stops working, you will either have to open the adapter and fix the loose connection. Or get a new adapter(recommended)
I think, this is a prob with the adapter. Even if it is not the adapter, using an adapter that works in fits and starts will damage the battery in a long run.
Please change the adapter.
Also please rate this if it was helpful.

Laptop problems

Hi benno565, it's not shorting it's too loose from plugging & unplugging, hence your notebook is not getting a steady charge. You can bend the two prongs (every so slightly apart from each other), (carefully), this will give you a better connection or you can just replace the AC adapter. Your battery seems unable to hold a charge, that defenitly needs replaced.

I CANNOT OPEN!!!

Hi, Try running you laptop with the battery and the AC adapter. If by plugging in your adapter there is no light indicator likewise or no powering up, then presumably there is a problem with the power supply circuitry in the motherboard. Normally the laptop should work with just the adapter, just the battery or both the battery and the adapter. If it will not perhaps your best bet is to seek professional repair service since this would require opening the motherboard. In most instances, this involves an smc fusible link, regulator transistors or even just cold solder or loose connections. Hope this be of some help/idea. post back how things turned up or should you need further information. Good luck and kind regards.
