I have an EPSON Stylus Photo RX500 printer and the ink waste pads need to be replaced. I already reset the counter that tripped past its limit, but now I have to replace the pads. I ordered and have new waste pads, but don't have any intructions on how to install them. Do you know if this is a difficult process that I can perform myself or should I take it in to a service dealer? Are there any intructions available anywhere?

Actually it will very hard for you to access the ink pads for it was designed to be only touched by their service center. I would pressume your printer is giving you errors on waste ink pads full? Try this to reset the counter and be able to use your printer again..
go to www.octoinkjet.co.uk/wib/ to download one of their inkjet ink pad reset utilities. It may just solve your problem. I couldn't clean or replace the ink pads on my epson RX700, so I bought their special adaptor kit. It solved the problem for me. If you already have cleaned the ink pads, maybe you can just download the reset utility. I hope it works for you.
Part are end life cycle : waste ink pad full. Need to reset waste ink counter. SSc ver 4.3 support RX 620 and 640. U can try using printer model RX 640. Normally your remedy is to
replace the "Waste Ink Pad/Pads" with a new one/ones and then reset the
"Internal Waste Ink Pad Counter". The waste ink pads are normally
housed in a black plastic box. They are located in the bottom of the
printer, towards the front, just under where the paper starts to exit.
You would have to remove the "Top Cover Assembly" to be able to get to
the screw or screws that hold that assembly in place. If you cannot
figure out how to remove the waste ink pad holder assembly [plastic
box], you may need to actually get a SERVICE MANUAL, to refer to that
You may want to try doing a general search
on the "Fixyourownprinter.com" printer repair site, under WASTE INK
PADS or WASTE INK COUNTER RESET PROCEDURE.
