They don't have master/slave settings as only one SATA drive can connect to a controller, however some BIOS have a setting designed to facilitate older OS's like XP that don't always have drivers available for the newer SATA RAID controllers built into most mid to high end PC's. If this setting is enabled on your PC then they would look to windows like a pair of master IDE drives on a Primary and Secondary IDE Channel even though each has it's own dedicated controller.
