Re: Toshiba TDP-S8U Projector doesnt work
Hi j cwff
I would have said to take out the lamp and check for any visible damage , but if there is no response at all , you will most definitely be in for a Mainboard replacement that is going to cost a bit more than you might have expected.
I have however found that some people give the diagnosis of a faulty Projector totally wrong and it might be that the lamp is just blown - in which case the machine will switch on , but the lamp LED will flicker without any light being projected - then you can just get a new lamp for it.
Once you receive the Projector and checked it out for yourself , send me a request with any additional queries you might have and I'll happily assist you.

The reason why the projector is shutting off is so the lamp doesn't explode. It's more of a safety feature on the projector, you can reset the lamp and it might work for another 500hours. If the picture is still pretty bright I can get you the reset procedure, but be warn that when the lamp does eventually blow it could shatter the glass inside, so be careful, it shouldn't hurt the unit.
Hi, it is possible that your notebook is set to a high resolution that your projector cannot handle. You may want to try to: 1) run your notebook as is (without connecting to the projector); 2) soon as windows booted up, right click on any clear area of your desktop and click on Properties; 3)Go to the Settings tab; 4) Set the Screen resolution to the lowest possible setting, towards left (less) and the Color quality to the lowest possible. Clilck Ok then reboot. Run once to see everything is OK except your icons are bigger now. Youo can try connecting your projector to see if it works. Hope this be of help to you. Cheers.
