Don't you have a support CD for your backup drive? Have you used that to access your backup drive and check disk integraty from their suite of tools?

Hello stxman, the best thing to do is a "System Restore." "Follow these instructions carefully!" The first thing you want to do is click on the "Start Button." paul7of9_50.jpg Next, click on "All Programs." Scroll to find "Accessories." Now; select the "System Tools." paul7of9_51.jpg"You will see in the next window that open, "System Restore." !Important, Once you click on the System Restore "shortcut." "It will start to look for the "Last known time of a change in your computer." ie. Toshiba Sleep Removal! The System Restore, can take as long as a 1/2 an hour to run! So; "Be Patient!" !Warning: "Do not try to do any type of work, don't even touch the keyboard for any reason." Once, the System Restore find: The correct {Date and Time}, of the event. paul7of9_53.jpg Coose the [Date] closest to the time of the 'occurrence'. ie. Installed [Toshiba Sleep Removal Tool]. !Warning: There will be a message: "Do not to do any type of 'work, or have applications' running' on the Computer. paul7of9_52.jpg "The System Restore will "run" for awhile; denpending on 'how far back the restore need to 'search'! The computer will then "Shutdown and Restart." Lo-gin if you have to; but! Do not touch the Keyboard once the Desktop window open. "Because "System Restore" is still running. Howdy - there is a Microsoft Bulletin about this issue (If you're running XP).
Take a look at the info presented at:

There's a link there to info about the problem in Windows 7 if thats what your using.

Hi there,

Try connecting it to the different computer and it is advised to connect it to the back of the computer and run a clean scan on the portable. Right click on the portable hard drive and explore it.

May be you should run the below software to scan your hard drive and computer as well.

Hello.

Yes, since you have reinstalled Windows XP with the same result, you likely have a hardware problem.

The first choice would be to test the memory - one module at a time, to see if a faulty module.

Run your computer's diagnostics to see if you get a clue.

As you mentioned, your hard drive could be failing.

Hope this helps.

XP SP3 Write delay failure

Try and test the drive for failures using their data lifeguard software (if you get any errors, refer to the link below and if you're still not sure contact them about the error).

http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?groupid=110&sid=3&lang=en

There are two ways of formatting the drive, if you haven't tried both already. One is to simply right click on the drive in my computer and format. The second way is to do it in disk management. To get there, click start, run and type "diskmgmt.msc", without the inverted commas and right click on the drive, format.

If all else fails, try deleting the partion first and then format it in disk management.

My toshiba satellite pro 4600 laptop has a error PXE-E61 media test failure, check cable and PXE-MOF existing Intel PXE ROM

Hi,

This error relates to an antiquated boot system used mostly for dumb terminals. It's coming up because the laptop isn't detecting a hard drive that is bootable or a bootable dvd so it continues down it's list of options and tries to boot from your network card.

This means the harddrive in your laptop is damaged or failing. If there's nothing of importance on the drive or if whatever important stuff is on there is backed up elsewhere. Buy a new drive(or have your local PC shop put one in) and use the factory Toshiba restore disks to get up and running again.

If you do have important files on the drive you can still get it up and running, but save the old drive(pack in an anti-static bag), and contact www.armor-it.com for professional assistance retreiving whatever files you need from the failing drive.

Let me know how you make out or if you need further assitance.

Chris

Do you know ho to format a toshiba satellite pro 4300

What operating system are you using? If windows xp then just right click on the icon of the hard drive in "My Computer", select "format" and follow the instructions with all the default settings. Be aware that if you do this you will have to have your windows xp cd or a cd for a different operating system in order to be able to restart the laptop. You will have to reinstall the OS and then all the necessary drivers for the laptop and any software you are running. What exactly is causing you to wish to format? Usually there is an easier way to solve HDD problems. Please post back with more info
