My laptop screen is showing black clour then changes to grey. But does not shows the original images. can it be repaired or the option left is to change it.Please advice.

May need to replace anything of the following: graphic chip, the matrix screen or the connecting wires of display. The correct solution is a new laptop

Connect your laptop to an external monitor and switch to monitor. If the external monitor shows the desktop, then the complaint is in the lcd/led display unit means the screen. Replace the screen. If the external monitor also shows the complaint, then it is normally due the mch(media controller hub) . It comes as separate card unit in some models and onboard for some other models.Only an experienced technician can solve that issue. In some rare cases it is due to a corrupted BIOS. Ok ! So try one thing remove HDD from the laptop and then start the laptop.And i am sure that u will see that the screen gone black at certain points. So dude its LCD problem . Go to nearest Laptop repairing center and he can change your LCD. then it working properly
Is your laptop booting on switching it on, ie, it is showing hard disk activity and shows initial boot screen. If yes, while switching on press F8 button very frequently. You will get a screen showing the options for booting. Choose a safe mode option and restore your computer to an earlier date. This may solve your problem.
On the other hand just switching on the computer shows monitor with yellow and black stripes, you may have to take it to a service center.
LCD is bad on it which is why the screen is changing colors and the lines are showing up. Give Asus a call if your laptop is under warranty to get it replaced, otherwise call them to get the part number so you can shop around and get an lcd at a good price if your laptop is not under warranty.
I think you have two different issues here. The black screen may be due to a CCD failure. Canon has a worldwide service notice regarding this issue, and will repair your unit at no cost if they determine this is the problem (it sounds like it is).
The little red symbol indicates your backup battery (or date/time battery) CR1616 needs to be replaced. It is located behind a small square panel which you can see to the left of the menu buttons when you open the LCD panel.
Grey as you know is different shades of black. Uncompressed TIF can store this information. Compressed TIFF is not designed for this. Compressed TIFF is for blck & white only. Try JPG option. JPG can compress Color & Grey. For pure black & white chose TIFF compression.
