Battery/memory card compartment wont close

It seems that the door to the battery and memory card compartment won't close fully. When I try to close it, it seems like there is something in the way. Also, the little sliding latch thing on the door (the thing that springs the door open when it is closed correctly) will not move either. I am afraid that if I force it, I will break something. Any suggestions?

Don't force it. It could be that your memory card is in backwards. This is a common cause for your battery door to not shut.

Hope this helps!

My hbc161e wont power up when the battery cover is fully closed

Connected to the battery cover is a switch, stopping all activity, and switching off the camera, when the door is opened. At least that is how it should function.

This is to avoid the camera accessing the memory, while the battery is pulled out. This could damage all pictures already on the memory card.

So when the door is closed and the camera is not starting, it could imply something is pressing to hard on the "safety" switch.

Try to find out what changed in or around the battery door. Try to find out where the switch is and why it is acting strange.

Like some debris where it should not be at something came lose.

Power problem

HI,

Try taking out your batteries and then taking out your memory card. Put back in batteries. Turn on camera.

If this works, just put back in your memory card and try again. Sometimes the memory card hangs and you need to pop it in and out.

My kodak easyshare 1063 will turn on

If you have a fully charged battery and still the camera won't switch on, you have to check if you did not put in the battery the worn way around. It is almost impossible, but still. Some people are stronger then others and manage to do so. Then you have to check if all contacts in the battery compartment are clean and shiny and not bent. Use a torch. The contacts are deep and small. If there is debris or oxidation on the contacts try cleaning it with a dry cloth or cotton swabs.
if that is ok, check if the memory card is in ok and also check the contacts of the memory card and in the camera. Everything alright, then close the battery / memory card door and check if it is closed correct. There is a switch that should indicate the door is locked. If the switch does not work the camera does not switch on. But you can't "repair" a door switch if it is not functioning correct.

Canon 600d won't turn on

There is not much the manual says about this problem. Although you could check if all contacts are clean and shiny. Also you should be sure, the battery door and the memory card door are closed correct. The sense contact behind the door, cold be dirty or oxidised. Try opening and closing several times. And what means fully charged? did you measure the outage? did you try these batteries in an other (similar) camera? When measuring the voltage of a battery, it should be higher then is printed on the battery, because a multimeter does not draw a current. The LP-E8 should at least give 7,3 to 7,5 volt on a multimeter.

Canon powershot SD1300 IS won't turn on, even with fully charged battery

Things to check first for a camera that won't turn on are battery contact points, and micro switches that are located on the battery and memory card doors. Troubleshooting tips on other things that need to be checked may be seen here. These tips won't work for every case, but they're worth a try.

I HAVE A MEMORY CARD IN CAMERA AND ITS EMPTY BUT WONT TAKE PHOTOS,SAYS MEMORY CARD FULL

Same problem with a VIvitar X029. Try taking out the battery, then "seating" the memory card further into its slot. Replace the battery and close the door. The card should not be able to move when closing the door. If it does, it is not puhed in far enough.

Camera will not turn on. Batteries have been

Make sure the battery contacts in the camera are making contact with the battery. Try a second battery. Check to make sure the battery compartment door and the memory card door are both properly closed.

Canon A310 Won't Power Up.

Try checking this... on the battery door (the outside door) along the top edge (over the CF card pointer embossed in the back of the door) you should see a little plastic piece that pokes out... tis is supposed to push a small switch located in a slot over the battery compartment. It's the sensor that tells if the battery door is open or closed.. if the plastic part breaks off or gets chipped it wont push the button and the camera will not turn on when the shutter door is opened.
