Re: hitachi projector temp light
This is what your projector's user manual says about a flashing "TEMP" light :
"The cooling fan is not operating. Turn the power OFF and wait approximately 20 minutes. After the main unit has cooled down, please make confirmation that no foreign matter has become caught in the fan, etc. After performing any needed maintenance, turn the power ON again; if the same display is displayed, then please contact a sales store or a service company."

if the Lamp error and Temperature error lights are flashing red this means that there are two separate errors.
flashing lamp light means the lamp failed to ignite. It could be a lamp
driver problem or lamp failure. Replace the lamp to resolve the issue.
If the issue is not resolved, then service the projector.
A flashing Temperature light signals a fan error. Turn the projector
off and allow it to cool down. If the light is still flashing after the
projector is turned back on, service the projector.

Is the fan that cools the projection high intensity bulb running? This sounds like an overheating condition, there is a temp sensor that will shut the machine down if it senses the temp is to high and poses a fire hazard or further damage to the projector.
Lamp is burned out or makes a popping sound. When the lamp reaches its end of life, it may burn out and may make a loud popping sound. If this occurs, the projector does not turn back on. To replace the lamp, see on page 38. LAMP light is solid amber If the LAMP light is solid amber, replace the lamp. LAMP light is blinking amber If the LAMP light and the Power light are blinking amber, the lamp driver has failed and the projector will automatically shut down. If the LAMP light is blinking amber and Power light is solid blue, the color wheel has failed and the projector will automatically shut down. Unplug the power cord after 3minutes then turn the display on again. If this problem persists, contact Dell™. TEMP light is solid amber The projector has overheated. The display automatically shuts down. Turn the display on again after the projector cools down. If the problem persists, contact Dell™. TEMP light is blinking amber A projector fan has failed and the projector will automatically shut down. If the problem persists, contact Dell™.
There are three temp sensor inside the projector and now your projector need full service but if the air filter becomes clogged with dust, the internal temperature of the projector will rise, the TEMP indicator will illuminate and the projector's power will turn off (the TEMP indicator will flash after the power is turned off) The air filter should be cleaned every 100 hours of use.
If you clean the filter with a vacuum cleaner to clean off any accumulated dust. then your projector working normally
I am experiencing a similar problem with mine. It will cycle on and off without actually powering up fully and then after about the 4th or 5th time it will shut off completely and the lamp indicator light on top illuminates. i am reading in other blogs that this is a design flaw on this unit. let me know if you have found any fixes.
