Question about Dell Latitude D600 Notebook

1 Answer

D600 Right Hinge

I looked at the diagram you sent, thanks! My problem involves the third diagram.

Just above the arrow on the right is what I think is the hinge. There's a piece coming straight down from the hinge, as in it would go into the base of the laptop. On the hinge I was sent, that piece is locked in an "up" position, as in it would go into the monitor. What should I do to loosen the hinge that was sent to me so I can get it to point down.

Thanks!

Hi!

is there a screw at the bottom of that? you can try to loosen it a bit ad turn it. if not, then there might be really a problem on that hinge that might need to be replaced. try to call the sales dept where you ordered it and ask if they can still replace it.

let me know if it helps.

Where on earth is the `Enter` key on the `Latitude D600` keyboard.......... I`m trying to get it started in `Safe Mode`....???

Hello.

The "Enter" key should be on the right side of the keyboard, with a "bent" arrow, above the right Shift key.

But, to access Safe Mode, boot your computer and press the F8 key repeatedly.

Hope this helps.

Broken (cracked) right Hinge on HP nc 4000 and Dell D600 Laptops

You can get replacement parts for this laptop, however it can get expensive. At the end of the day, you can use a super glue that is safe to use around electrical parts, but you might be better off just using an external monitor if you don't need to carry your laptop around.

Arrow keys not recognized in Dell D600 bios

Try testing your keyboard on the system's diagnostics. Press F12 as soon as you see the Dell Logo and choose boot to utility partition. Select Test System and you will be prompted to its 32-bit diagnostics. Select Custom Test and select Keyboard as one of the test options. You will be having a test for your arrow keys on this part of the diagnostics. If the arrow keys doesn't respond on the test, you need to call Dell for the keyboard replacement. Just a heads up, most of the time, this is also being caused by motherboard issues. Prepare your service Tag or Express Service Code found at the bottom of your D600 when calling.
