I have a Toshiba M400 and have just purchased a Sierra Wireless AirCard 595U. I have followed the instructions re installation, but when it tries to connect it works until it shows 'Authenticating' then 'No PPP control protocols configured' comes up on the screen and it disconnects. What do I need to do to be able to use this please?

To resolve this behavior, follow these steps: 1. Find out which protocols the RAS server is running, and make sure that the RAS service is installed and configured properly (or ask the Network Administrator to do this). 2. After you find out which protocols the RAS server is running, make sure that your Windows XP-based computer is running one of the same protocols that the RAS server is running: a. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Network Connections. b. Under Virtual Private Network, right-click the VPN connection, and then click Properties. c. In the VPN Connection Properties dialog box, click the Networking tab, and make sure that you have a protocol that the RAS server is running. 3. If you do not have a protocol that the RAS server is running, add the needed protocol: a. Click Install, click Protocol, and then click Add. b. Click the protocol that you need to install, and then click OK. c. Click Close in the VPN Connection Properties dialog box.

I updated a friends Vista PC to SP2 and now her SPrint Wireless card does not work. Its asking for a data interface disk. What is this

The installation program is not completing the install with the necessary drivers.

The fix: you must extract all the files from Sprint's .MSI installation file. I downloaded a free utility called Lessmsierables-20050611.zip by searching for an MSI extractor. It will allow you to right click the MSI file and extract all of the files to a folder.

After extracting all of the files, I inserted my Aircard 580 and the Data Interface box came up again. Point the driver installation to the folder you extracted and presto, it will install both of the Data Interface drivers (which are Aircard 580 drivers)

I dont know how to connect wireless internet from one computer to another

You will need a wireless adapter for the other computer. You can get an external wireless USB adapter to connect to your wireless network. Simply plug it in and install the software. There will be a tutorial on the procedure which should include how to set encryption to keep nearby wireless networks from spying on you.

If you do not have an unused USB port, you can connect a USB hub to add additional ports or install an internal adapter instead. If your computer has an available slot, purchase a wireless internal network adapter, and then open the packaging and read the instructions. Insert the CD that comes with the adapter in your computer, and follow the manufacturer's instructions to install the necessary software.

I have a Toshiba Satellite notebook with Vista Home and NAV 360 and recently purchased a Sierra Wireless Mobile Broadband USB modem T-Stick D597. When I try to install the T-Stick, I keep getting an error...

You might want to disable the WiFi that is built into your laptop before installing that device. It is very possible that the built in WiFi is conflicting with that Wireless Broadband Device.

Add internal bluetooth to a Toshiba portege M400

The review below says bluetooth is built in, please confirm the exact model number.

The Toshiba M400 is the first convertible tablet notebook we've seen to sport a Core Duo processor. And the 1.83GHz Core Duo CPU at the heart of it, backed by 512MB of RAM, powered it to a benchmark score of 0.90. The other specifications are respectable. The Western Digital hard disk has a capacity of 80GB, while the optical drive is a Matsushita model that will write to all formats of disc, including, usefully, DVD-RAM. Elsewhere, Intel's 3945 802.11a/b/g wireless card rounds off the Centrino specification, and Bluetooth is another plus.
