Question about Toshiba Satellite 1115-S103 Notebook

Won't Stay On

I did a power boot on my computer a couple weeks ago because the screen was frozen and ctrl+alt+delete wouldn't work. It turned off but now whenever I try to turn it on, it stays on for a few seconds than turns itself off and continues to do that.

Is there a simple fix for this that will cost me little or nothing?

The screen remains black. It's like it's stuck in a continuous cycle of restarting itself.

    Same problem -

Have not used it in quite a while -

At the 'end' it would run for a few minutes and SEEM like it over-heated or ?? but everything (fan and all) were working fine -

Motherboard issue or hard drive issue or just a scrap pile of junk now ?

I have the SAME issue -

Before (when I was using it every day) it would then run for a while and then shut down -

    NOW....it doesn't come on fully -

The 'first' screen would come up and then just FREEZE....and it doesn't go to the desktop -

Motherboard issue ? hard drive issue ? power ? (using AC not battery) -

When it comes on for the few seconds, does anything appear on the screen?

SOURCE: the screen is frozen on Windows is shutting down

Turn off the power to the device, remove the battery pack.

Now replace battery pack and power supply and try rebooting.

If you still have a problem report it again on this thread.

Restart your computer
During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup usually the Delete or F2 key
this will vary depending on your computer and operating system
Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS using the arrow keys load failsafe defaults or load optimized defaults press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart.
This will set the boot order
If this fails you might try some of these
Acer: - Ctrl+Alt+Esc

ALR PC: (F2) or (Ctrl)(Alt)Esc)

AMI BIOS: (Del), (F1) or (F2)

AST, Advantage, Award, Tandon: - Ctrl + Alt + Esc

Award BIOS: (Del) or (Ctrl)(Alt)(Esc)

Take off safe mode

When your system is Windows XP, you can reset it in safe mode

On XP you can try this:
Boot computer and press Ctrl+Alt+Delete twice when you See Windows welcome screen / login screen. It'll show classic login box. Now type "Administrator" (without quotes) in username field and leave password field blank, press Enter and you should be able to login Windows.
Now you can reset your account password from "Control Panel -> User Accounts".

On Win 7 or Vista:
Ctrl+Alt+Delete won't work, you have to use some windows password reset tool. I recommend Windows Password Reset.
