I believe that you had your home page as cox.net and now its yahoo because you might have installed some applicaion from yahoo and the home page was reset to yahoo. Go to internet explorer click on tools go to internet options and under the general tab under home page type the name of the website that you want as your home page.
For the other part regarding the net connectivity check for the settings for connectivity on the system and the router.

Your Incoming server should be pop.xxx.cox.net
Your outgoing server should be smtp.xxx.cox.net.

The "xxx" is dependent upon the Cox region in which your email account is based.

For example, I am in VA so my incoming server is pop.east.cox.net. Check your Cox account for the exact settings
