Question about Hampton Bay 24002 Ceiling Fan

1 Answer

Remote problems I have a 36 in. Hampton Bay ceiling fan with light kit (Model number 191-691). I was missing the nut that secures the bottom globe. I got a replacement nut, but while putting the globe back on, something popped in or around the light kit. Then, to make matters worse, I dropped the remote on a hard floor, though it didn't break and seems to still work. The remote also continued to work the fan, but not the lights, which continued to stay on. I looked inside the top set of lights (there are two sets, one at the bottom of the light kit and one set above the light kit) and one of the three bulbs had shattered. I uscrewed that bulb, but still had the same problem. Now, the lights are still on, but the remote doesn't operate anything at all. Any suggestions?

This sounds like one of the most common problems with Hampton Bay's remote-contolled fans...either the transmitter (remote control) or the receiver (mounted in the fan, typically inside the ceiling canopy) has gone haywire. A circuit has blown or something is short-circuited, and it has a mind of it's own. Some things work, others don't, and others only intermittently. The only fix is to replace the receiver and transmitter, which are relatively cheap and sold as a pair at your local Home Depot and Lowes.

Hope that helps! If you ave any other questions, feel free to ask!

We have a hampton bay ceiling fan model 54cvt. We cant figure out how to change the light bulb or change the direction of the blades. We dont have a manual for the fan.

This fan is also known as the Hampton Bay Covington 54 Ceiling Fan. You need to turn the globe anti clockwise until it comes out. The full instruction manual can be found here.
