Please enclose the type, and model of your dryer/unit.

Most of the time you can remove the rear of the dryer and access the drum assembly. Some models say you have to remove the front of the unit and access the assembly.

Just replaced the belt & it spins until I put clothes in it?

It sounds like you didn't get the belt tight enough to handle the load of wet clothes. Suggest you use something to put more pressure on the belt while tightening the motor bolts. Although there is a recommended torque for the belt, most technicians don't measure when they replace a belt.

How to replace a belt on this style dryer, is there a trick

REMOVE THE SOCKET FROM THE WALL OUTLET.
To replace a belt that passes over the drum on a dryer you need to be able
to pass the new belt over either the back or the front of the drum. This
entails removing the front panel to clear the whole drum or loosening off
the rear bearing support to pass the belt under it so that the belt can be
passed over the drum. From there it is just a case of passing the belt
over the motor pulley and replacing all the parts. Select which will be
easier on your machine. After replacing everything but the top panel,
make sure that the belt is correctly installed by turning the drum several
revolutions by hand and ensuring that the belt is running true and still
on the motor pulley. Tension the belt by either adjusting the motor or the
tensioner, if the machines has one of those. Replace the top cover and
you are set to go.

When belt breaks is there an automatic shut of switch because the dryer will not run?

Yes on MOST dryers there is a belt safety switch. It is there to prevent you from using the dryer with a broken belt. (i.e heat but does not tumble) When the belt breaks the idler pulley arm drops down and trips the safety switch.

If you need help with parts, and replacement belt procurement / owner replacement of the belt, we need your model number please so we can pass you the correct information.

Just respond here and someone will help you.

Is60v belt replacement. The replacement belt seems difficult to fit.size/ belt number checked against old one & details are the same. What is the method of replacing / refitting the belt?

The belts do appear to be undersize, this is because they are a stretch belt, and this makes them very difficult to fit.
Remove the top cover and right hand side panel of dryer, this will give you access to the belt.
Move the front panel forward to fit the new belt on the drum, and then you really have to pull hard down on the belt to get it round the motor pulley.
It is very difficult.
Good luck.

Belt slipping / takes a minute to start tumbling

Before replacing belt check the space between the drum and the front AND rear seals with your fingers for foreign objects caught there. This may make the drum too tight to turn. Belt is usually broken before it needs replacing.

Also check idler pulley next to motor and motor itself with belt off both pulleys making sure they both turn freely. I think something is binding. Check all those BEFORE replacing belt.

Disconnect plug before opening unit.
