Maytag electric dryer (LDE9806ACE) Tumbler sqeaks/squeals when first turned on

    Thanks for the help.

The sqeak sounds more like a belt problem or maybe the tumbler roller than a motor bearing going bad.

Do you think it might be just a belt adjustment or would I have to replace the pully arm.

    Thanks again

It could be the motor. After doing some research, I changed the drum rollers and it still squealed. Then I changed the idler pulley and it still squealed. Last thing that it could've been was the motor. I just called it quits and got a new dryer.

Two issues to look at. One dryer belt idler pully arm. Second actual motor may have bearings acting up. May need to change both to eleminate problem.

I strongly recommend changing the pulley arm and the belt both. When a pulley arm gets worn, so does the belt. Worn out idler pully arms often pulls on belts causing them its own wear and tear. The pulley arm is usually a metal s shape bracket with a plastic wheel on it. The belt usually wraps to the underside of the pulley to the motor pulley shaft. The tension is often tight.

WARNING when changing belt. Make sure the power is disconnected. Just because dryer is off, there still is power going through it.

Some dryers (stackable included) don't have a pulley arm or belts. The drum actually sits on the dryer motor pulley. I have only seen two versions of these, and usually the drum guides have to be replaced when the squealing occurs.

Second, The dryer must be put back together completely to determine if the squeal is gone. if you replaced the belts, arms, guides etc and didn't put the dryer back together and was to turn it on, you will hear it squeal because the drum is rotating on the guides. Most people think it is the motor or belt doing this when it isn't really. The housing that surrounds the drum, motors etc is what dampens the noise. Hard to believe though, but true.

I hope this works. If you do not know how to change these, you might try contacting a small appliance repair store specializing in a large appliance repair. Most of them are reasonable priced, and many technicians will also tell you what they think might be the problem. Some will even go as far as telling you how to replace them yourself with factory supply generic parts that do almost better than the actual parts from the factory direct.

    I hope this helps.

Loud squeal from Frigidaire electric dryer, tumbler slipping, then smoke and blown breaker

Sounds like the bearing on the motor, had this problem with my two at the same time replaced the bearing and they are both ok now.
also check the back bearing on the machine usually hidden by a plastic cover thats where the squealing comes from they are easy to replace and don't cost much all it is ,is a bit of brass which doesn't last long.
hope this helps.

Dryer sqeaks while it's running

This could be the result of a loose/worn belt, or worn drum roller bearings. Is it a constant squeal or a squeak......squeak.........squeak, basically in time with the RPM of the drum? If that is the case, get new drum bearings. If the former is the case, get a new belt.

Loud noise as the tumbler is drying

Front or rear? Rear is probably center bearing. Fornt is front tub wheel or glide worn out. If noise is in front remove front and inspect.

My dryer is squealing like crazy when rotating.. It's level and belts attached correctly. Everything seems to be rotating fine.

Sounds like the drum support rollers. They wear out after several years of operation.

See this link, and look at the parts under the schematic area labeled "Tumbler" , part description #24. Also check out the Motor Drive section.

Maytag electric dryer. Tumbler won't turn.

The first thing to check is the drive belt. you will need to turn the dryer on its side and look to see if the drive belt is broken. If this is o.k it will be the motor.

Maytag electric dryer when i set dial to desired setting i here a humming sound prior to pushing start button it has never done this before also the clothes is VERY hot when i take it out model ...

it sounds like a shorted heater element, this would also cause the heat to stay on at 110 volts which would make the clothes very hot since the element doesn't completely shut down. if it is a loud hum it could be a stuck motor switch but in this case the dryer usually won't start.
