Question about HP Pavilion dv6565us Notebook

HP dv6565us 3 Bad hard drives???

3 Bad H/Ds in 8months. Cause= Controller? Board? or 3 actual H/Ds bad.
Statistics don't support that. HP just replaces H/D and sends back. Not software or they would tell me!!! Out of warr. soon. Anyone even herd of this???

That is a Controller error. Unplug hard drive and reboot. If it goes away it is a bad hard drive. If it does not, then the controller board is bad.

On start up my lg x120, (s/n: 003msfb0044355)" displays operating system not found" it wont go any further. What do i need to do?

This type of message indicates that the BIOS is unable to detect an operating system. What may cause this condition can be a loose hard drive, a bad data cable, bad hard drive, bad motherboard storage controller, malware, virus, or incorrect BIOS setting.

To troubleshoot, start by entering the BIOS and see if the BIOS detects your hard drive. If it is detected then make sure it is set as the 1st boot priority item. If it is not detected, then open up your laptop to inspect the wiring of the hard drive. Make sure it is firmly seated into the motherboard connector (Don't forget to have the laptop/pc powered off before opening the machine).

Next, remove the hard drive from the laptop and connect it to a motherboard from a desktop to see if it spins and loads the operating system. If it does work, then the hard drive is ok and the motherboard on the laptop is damaged.

You can also use a functional hard drive to install on the pc/laptop to rule out a bad motherboard.

If all of these don't work, you will need to reinstall your operating system because malware has damaged your operating system.

Monitors turn on only a couple of seconds

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electic extensions or just replace them they are probably faulty a computer needs its connections to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error hope this helps

Any 2.5" SATA hard disk drive (HDD) will work.

Since you are replacing the HDD, you should use this as an oppurtunity to increase capacity.

Newegg.com has an excellent selection of HDD's, fast delivery and awesome customer service.

Remember when you swap out the HDD, to disconnect the power supply and pull the battery before dis assembly.

Hi, I have a "please wait" error showing an a Ricoh aficio 2027,i have changed the H.D.D but the prolem still shows, also i have fitted the faulty H.D.D in another machine of the same type and it works...

The "Please wait" error is almost always caused by a fault hard drive. Have you tried running a disk repair utility like Scandisk on one of the hard drives when it's attached to a computer? Maybe the "new" hard drive you put in was also bad. (It doesn't take many bad sectors or other problems for the copier to not be able to use it.)

If both of the hard drives are truly good, the problem could be the hard drive controller, which sits on the main controller board, and you'd have to replace that whole board.

Hi there, seem to have lost my external harddrive on my desk top, and it is making a beeping sound??

Hard drives don't beep. They make a lot of sounds, but no beeps. If the drive is actually making an unusual noise, it has probably gone bad. Clicking would be a bad disk. Any other noise would be a bad controller board. A good shop may be able to slave your drive to another computer to try and save your data. But don't count on it. By the time a drive makes a loud noise, it's usually gone and unrecoverable.
Before spending a lot of money to recover your data, try the external drive on another computer. Maybe the connection USB port has gone bad on the original computer.

IDE Hard Drives cannot be seen by Bios in either

the "controller" is actually located in the unit-so check all cables first -if still not seen then my guess is the unit itself is bad-()try with a known good HD
