Test does not detect hard drive boot up problems

Either your hard drive is bad or the controller circuit that controls it. So you have 1 option, replace the hard drive and run the test again. Depending on the size of your drive it may run you $50 to $ 150 bucks. If it's the drive controller circuit, you may need a new system board. Might be cheaper to buy a new computer.

On start up my lg x120, (s/n: 003msfb0044355)" displays operating system not found" it wont go any further. What do i need to do?

This type of message indicates that the BIOS is unable to detect an operating system. What may cause this condition can be a loose hard drive, a bad data cable, bad hard drive, bad motherboard storage controller, malware, virus, or incorrect BIOS setting.

To troubleshoot, start by entering the BIOS and see if the BIOS detects your hard drive. If it is detected then make sure it is set as the 1st boot priority item. If it is not detected, then open up your laptop to inspect the wiring of the hard drive. Make sure it is firmly seated into the motherboard connector (Don't forget to have the laptop/pc powered off before opening the machine).

Next, remove the hard drive from the laptop and connect it to a motherboard from a desktop to see if it spins and loads the operating system. If it does work, then the hard drive is ok and the motherboard on the laptop is damaged.

You can also use a functional hard drive to install on the pc/laptop to rule out a bad motherboard.

If all of these don't work, you will need to reinstall your operating system because malware has damaged your operating system.

I recently installed windows 7 on my dv6565us. Windows still says that the hdd needs to be replaced. My problam is the hdd i need from hp is a 451863-001 and i cannot fid it. does anyone know an...

Any 2.5" SATA hard disk drive (HDD) will work.

Since you are replacing the HDD, you should use this as an oppurtunity to increase capacity. has an excellent selection of HDD's, fast delivery and awesome customer service.

Remember when you swap out the HDD, to disconnect the power supply and pull the battery before dis assembly.

My asus K601 just shut down and i have been trying to reboot it or format it and it gives me an error saying cant find hard drive

When you see this you either have a bad hard drive, or if you are real lucky its loose, or the drive controller on the main board is gone (not at a all lucky).

The first thing to check is to listen for the drive spinning up. You need to put your ear on the bottom of the case over the drive and then power it up. What you are listening for is the sound of just the drive. It should sould like a turbo spooling up. If there are any clunks or bearing noises then your drive needs to be replaced. Figure on $80-$100 for a new drive. Go as big as you can afford as its worth it. Replacement takes longer to explain than to do. You take the cover off then one or two hold down screws. Then the drive in its carrier comes out. Take the drive out of the carrier, put the new one in and put it back together. You will have to format and partition but that is all it takes.

It is very uncommon for the drive connector get loose enough to cause problems. Basically you take the drive out and put it back in and that is all it takes to fix it.

If the hard drive is actually good then the only thing left is the drive controller. To fix that means replacing the main board which can be up to a few hundred dollars. And the laptop needs to come right apart so there is a bit of labour involved. The total can be more than a new replacement laptop. This is rather uncommon but it happens.

The hard drive is the usual suspect. It spins up and down and is subject to damage if the laptop gets bumped or dropped. I'd start there

HP Pavilion zv6100 laptop CMOS will not recognize the HD

You could have a faulty disk controller. Try inserting a different working hard disk into the HP and see if it can detect it in the BIOS. If not then the disk controller is faulty and this is a motherboard problem. A replacement motherboard may not be worth it, put your money towards a new laptop and put the hard disk into an USB hard drive adapter case and use it as an USB external hard drive.

I have a hp laptop at the time of boot it is displaying a message error 200: fixed hard disk failure 0 and it can't boot

Could be either a bad hard drive or the hard drive controller. best way is to download the hard drive test from the manufacturer of the hard drive and test it.

Getting noise in HP dv2700t 14" laptop

I wonder if the controller board on the motherboard is bad. I'd report it to HP again and see if they can fix it for you. Obviously they switch vendors for getting hard drives.
