I'm assuming you mean "AdAware". If so, the answer is: No, you don't have to but it's advisable. This is because the Kaspersky software performs pretty much the same function as AdAware (as well as its other functions). So if you had both of them running, you'd have two products doing the same thing which would impact the PC's performance to some extent. Having said that, if the PC is quick enough for you, having both of them won't do any harm.

So, you could

  • Turn off Kaspersky's adware-blocking function and keep AdAware installed
  • Just uninstall AdAware
  • Leave them both installed if it causes you no problems.
whichever you find works better for you.

You'll find folks who'll come down heavily in favour of one solution or the other but in reality, there's nothing much to choose between them.

How do I remove ads by dragon branch from Google Chrome?

You can disable the browser add-ons in Extension manager. This often works. You can even delete it by click on the remove option. And I believe there are useful guides on the Internet can help you safely get rid of that dragon branch. I drag one from google result and you may look at it to see if it can help.

IE hangs (8), when open for more than 2 minutes

Hi, more than likely you have a Adware/Spyware problem. Or even a virus to boot. I would suggest doing a virus scan while your PC is in safe mode. (Be sure to update your antivirus in regular windows mode) then reboot to safe mode and run virus scan. I also suggest a nifty utility called Malwarebytes & Spybot Search and Destroy. Install those FREE Utilities and update and scan your PC with them.

You can download the free utilities from the links below:

Spybot...

And if you need a decent Antivirus...AVG is good.

Scan you C and post back your results. And please rate my solution.

I keep having problems with popups being disallowed on gaydar with my firefox browser even tho they are disabled

You need some anti-adware virus protection. You can buy it from Norton, McAfee, AVG, etc. Just Firefox browser will not protect you. However if you have a windows machine, windows Vista has Windows Defender that comes with Vista that blocks pop ups..need to get it soon before you get a bad virus.

Use sav32cli and scan your pc in command prompt.

http://www.sophos.com/support/disinfection/pedis.html

  1. Download an emergency copy of SAV32CLI. On an uninfected Windows computer, run this file to extract the contents into a SAV32CLI folder on a medium that can be write-protected. Copy the SAV32CLI folder produced onto a medium that can be write-protected. Add any relevant IDEs to this folder and write-protect the disk (on a CD/R or CD/RW close the session).
  2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode with command prompt.
  3. At the infected computer, place the CD in the CD drive (D: in this example). At the command prompt type
    D:
to access the CD drive. Type:
    CD SAV32CLI
    Then type:
    SAV32CLI -DI -P=C:\LOGFILE.TXT
    to disinfect the virus.
All other files must be deleted. Some of these were dropped by the virus and need not be restored. Others should be recovered from backups.
    SAV32CLI -REMOVE -P=C:\REMOVLOG.TXT
This command writes a report to the root of the C: drive. This report can be used to check which deleted files should be restored from backups.
In Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista, when disinfection and deletion have finished, restart the computer in Windows.
Install or reinstall Sophos Anti-Virus then run an 'All files' scan to check that the virus has gone.
  4. Before leaving Safe Mode, check any registry entries mentioned in the virus analysis recovery instructions, and edit them if necessary. If problems persist, contact support.

Norton 360 has the entire norton protection suite built into it. On top of the firewall, phishing protection, and e-mail protection it also has norton antivirus built right into it. So yes, you have to uninstall antivirus to install 360, but 360 just installs antivirus again. If you ever decide to go back to using just antivirus you can simply redownload it off their web site.
