3 factory installed hard drives in 8 months

My HP dv6565us has gone through 3 hard drives since 8/18/07. HP just keeps replacing H/D and sending it back. It's not software related.
Any ideas why this is happening? I'm almost out of warn.

system would start to run slow. system would not shut down. system would not do restore. every time any of these happen just general error mess. this leads to track error mess. or file corruption
mess. or zone does not exist mess. HP has never faulted Windows. They just replace HARD DRIVE only, reimage hard drive after and send it back.
They have paid FedEx overnight shipping 6 times. 3 to HP 3 back. Enough shipping cost to pay for new computer. They just will not replace. They also won't say this board or controller are the prob either. sc

Either download an installer disk on to a DVD or partition a harddrive with an installer disk on it. Boot from that disk and restart the computer, it should boot up and ask to install Windows 7.

Any 2.5" SATA hard disk drive (HDD) will work.

Since you are replacing the HDD, you should use this as an oppurtunity to increase capacity.

Newegg.com has an excellent selection of HDD's, fast delivery and awesome customer service.

Remember when you swap out the HDD, to disconnect the power supply and pull the battery before dis assembly.

Notebook not working

Sounds like either the data is corrupt or the hard drive is bad. Try restoring the laptop back to factory defaults if you have the discs for it.

If you can't restore it after using the discs or just by installing windows, then that means the hard drive is bad and the hard drive would need to be replaced.

Scan for viruses. If no viruses found one of three things are starting to fail, i.e., the inverter, the display ic, or the lcd.

DVD/CD Bluray Stopped working

Since you are under warranty, I would suggest not trying to do anything yourself if your not sure of your capabilities. Get somebody tech savy to do either one of those options you mentioned. Remove Hard drive, or bad optical drive. Another solution is just back up all your data on a removable drive, and then you can just reinstall the data back when you get the drive back. Depending on how much data you have it shouldnt take long to get back to your settings. It would be a good idea to start backing up anyway if your concerned about losing data and settings since it is almost inevitable eventually in time.

I tried to install xp on my dv 6560 but couldnot

To do this, you need to create a bootable XP CD with the SATA drivers slipstreamed into the installation. There is a tutorial to show you step-by-step how to accomplish this located here winxp-installation-cd.html">http://maxeasyguide.blogspot.com/2008/04/preparations-for-winxp-installation-cd.html. It even has screenshots so help you through it as easily as possible.

Running recovery reformats your harddrive to factory defaults and does wipe out all data. Any programs will have to be reinstalled and reactivated.

To get your data back you would need to import it from a backup or send it out to a company that specializes in recovering lost data... at a hefty price.

Sorry 'bout that.
