3 factory installed hard drives in 8 months

My HP dv6565us has gone through 3 hard drives since 8/18/07. HP just keeps replacing H/D and sending it back. It's not software related.
Any ideas why this is happening? I'm almost out of warn.

system would start to run slow. system would not shut down. system would not do restore. every time any of these happen just general error mess. this leads to track error mess. or file corruption
mess. or zone does not exist mess. HP has never faulted Windows. They just replace HARD DRIVE only, reimage hard drive after and send it back.
They have paid FedEx overnight shipping 6 times. 3 to HP 3 back. Enough shipping cost to pay for new computer. They just will not replace. They also won't say this board or controller are the prob either. sc

Hi there, use any hard drive cloning tool. like Acronis or Norton Ghost. with hard drive cloning you'll get exact copy of your old hard drive to your new hard drive.
Note : Do not format your old drive until you thoroughly check your newly installed drive is working fine and windows 8 is genuine.

All the best.

Laptop came with windows 7 factory installed on it. A friend accidently formatted the hard drive.

Either download an installer disk on to a DVD or partition a harddrive with an installer disk on it. Boot from that disk and restart the computer, it should boot up and ask to install Windows 7.

Any 2.5" SATA hard disk drive (HDD) will work.

Since you are replacing the HDD, you should use this as an oppurtunity to increase capacity.

Newegg.com has an excellent selection of HDD's, fast delivery and awesome customer service.

Remember when you swap out the HDD, to disconnect the power supply and pull the battery before dis assembly.

Scan for viruses. If no viruses found one of three things are starting to fail, i.e., the inverter, the display ic, or the lcd.

I bought a HP M8430F and would like to install a 2nd hard drive

By set up differently you mean and ATA or SATA difference? That shoudll not matter as long as  the windows are alread on the first harddrive of the HP  Since your drive that you want to move is the second drive and does not contain the operating syastem you should be able to just phisically move the drive from one machine to the other. The new computer will see and install the drive as "FOund ne hardware" and asign it a letter. It will not disturb the data.

That does not look like virus, probably the solid state disk inside your memory stick has gone faulty.

Try formatting it again, ticking th "complete formatting" option and not the quick one.
If it does not work the memory is faulty.

If you bought this memory in recent times, go back to the retailer and tell them the memory was defective.

If it is a good brand memory stick (eg. Kingston, Sony, SD etc.) call factory, if it is less than one year old they will send you a replacement, if it is older than this, just take a chance and call them the same, if they accept it is a factory fault they will send a replacement the same.

HP 6510b

Running recovery reformats your harddrive to factory defaults and does wipe out all data. Any programs will have to be reinstalled and reactivated.

To get your data back you would need to import it from a backup or send it out to a company that specializes in recovering lost data... at a hefty price.

Sorry 'bout that.
