Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

How to format and instal a window xp

1.Insert your Windows XP installation disc into your CD drive

2.Now as you computer boots a little more it will say "Press any key to boot from CD.." press a key to do so.

3.The CD will load up a blue screen and then spend a while loading files it needs. When it is finished it will list a few options, mainly "Press ENTER to set up Windows XP." Press Enter or Return.

4. Now you will be at a screen to select where to install Windows to. This is where you can delete old partitions and format drives. The box in the bottom half of the screen shows all your drives and the partitions that exist on them. Use the Up and Down arrow keys to highlight your "C:" partition and press the 'D' key (if all that shows up is "Unpartitioned space" and you have no C: or D: partitions, skip this step). On the next screen press the 'L' key to finalize deleting the partition.

5.Now you are back on the screen to choose where to install Windows. The box on the lower half of the screen should no longer show a partition but simply have an entry "Unpartitioned space xxxxxMB." Select this with the arrow keys and press the 'C' key to create a partition on the drive. The next screen tells you the minimum and maximum sizes the partition can be and lets you pick the size. The default size is the maximum, but double check that the number entered is the maximum and hit enter.

6.Now you will again be back at the choose where to install Windows screen. But this time you will have a partition that looks something like this "C: Partition1 [New (Raw)]xxxxxxMB." Highlight this entry and press enter.

7.The next screen lets you choose which file system to format the drive with. Choose NTFS as it is faster and more secure. If the drive is brand new and has never been used before then use one of the options that ends in "(Quick)." Or, choose one of the lower down options. Use the arrow keys to select the proper one and press Enter or Return.

8. From here you are all set and the installation of Windows will proceed starting with a format of your drive. This will take a while (over half an hour)

It looks like you'll have to either return it or perform a default factory recovery. These instructions are from their site but proceed knowing that this will erase any data that is stored on the primary partition (meaning if you have anything on it, it's gone...). Esentially it resets it to a point as if you just picked it up in the store (which you did.. :( )

How can I restore my computer with the backup discs I created?
With user created backups you are able to restore your computer to the factory default settings. If backup discs were created instead of factory restore discs, these can be used instead and will restore the system to a user backup point.
If you have a recovery disk:

With user created backups you are able to restore your computer to the factory default settings. If backup discs were created instead of factory restore discs, these can be used instead and will restore the system to a user backup point.
    1. Ensure that the computer is completely shutdown, then turn on the computer.
    2. When the eMachines splash screen appears, tap the Alt and F10 keys simultaneously. A screen stating "Starting eMachines eRecovery" should appear.
    3. From the recovery options, choose Restore system from CD/DVD.
    4. Insert either the first Recovery or Backup disc that you created.
    5. From the on-screen options, choose a backup.
    6. Click OK and the installation will begin.
    7. Change the disc as necessary when prompted.

If you do not have a recovery disk:

    8. Restart the computer.
    9. When the eMachines logo appears on the screen, press the Alt and F10 keys repeatedly.
    10. If you are prompted with a Microsoft Windows boot screen, press the Enter key.
    11. After the system recovery application has loaded, follow the prompts to reinstall the Operating System.

Windows shut down unexpectedly, and when I rebooted, I had lost all my icons, and start tool bar. How to get them back?

  1. Boot the computer using the XP CD. You may need to change the boot order in the system BIOS so the CD boots before the hard drive. Check your system documentation for steps to access the BIOS and change the boot order.
  2. When you see the "Welcome To Setup" screen, you will see the options below This portion of the Setup program prepares Microsoft
Windows XP to run on your computer:

To setup Windows XP now, press ENTER.

To repair a Windows XP installation using Recovery Console, press R.

To quit Setup without installing Windows XP, press F3.
  3. Press Enter to start the Windows Setup. To Repair Install, press ENTER
    note.gifTo Repair Install, press ENTER
\r\n'); FP_changeProp(/*id*/'layer1',0,'style.borderStyle','double','style.borderWidth','3px','style.padding','5px','style.backgroundColor','#F9F4D5','style.backgroundImage','url(\'edgbkgnd4.gif\')'); FP_changeProp(/*id*/'layer1',0,'style.visibility','visible')" onclick="FP_changeProp(/*id*/'layer1',0,'style.visibility','hidden')" width="15" border="0" height="21" /> do not choose "To repair a Windows XP installation using the Recovery Console, press R", (you Do Not want to load Recovery Console). I repeat, do not choose "To repair a Windows XP installation using the Recovery Console, press R".
  4. Accept the License Agreement and Windows will search for existing Windows installations.
  5. Select the XP installation you want to repair from the list and press R to start the repair. If Repair is not one of the options, END setup. After the reboot read
  6. Setup will copy the necessary files to the hard drive and reboot. Do not press any key to boot from CD when the message appears. Setup will continue as if it were doing a clean install, but your applications and settings will remain intact.take care god bless

When switching on my laptop ( Compaq presario C300 ) I get a message on the screen which says - Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:...

Yaa, Your OS has been currepted, you have to re-install it. There are two option to do this.
1. If the system is displaying the file name which has been missed or currepted, then you can repair it.. to do so
a. insert your setup CD and make boot and at first screen press 'r' it will display the drive name where your windows has been installes.
b. type the number which is appearing before your drive later and press enter key.
c. type your administrator passward and press enter agian.
d. now you have logged in to your windows setup folder.
e. using CD command goto the location of file which has been currepted and copy that file from your setup CD.
f. It may ask you for overwrite, if so, then choose 'y' for yes.
Now reboot your system it will be start..

In another way just reinstall your setup, i,e, press enter key instead of 'r'
and follow instructions given on the screen.

Thanks
Iqbal
