Question about Xerox FAXCENTRE 2218 18PPM FAX

Toner how in the heck do i replace the toner? i can't even find it! this is the closest machine to the one i have as the only identifying information on it is WorkCentre M15i not listed. this one is similar.

Push up on the release latch on the Right Side Cover to open the cover


  1. CAUTION: Ensure the side cover is always open before opening the front cover.

  2. Open the Front Door.
    Turn the orange Toner locking lever up to unlock the Toner Cartridge.
    Pull the Toner Cartridge out of the machine.

  3. Remove the new Toner Cartridge from the box. Save the box and the packaging for storing the old cartridge.
  4. Gently shake the new cartridge horizontally 4 or 5 times to loosen the toner. Be careful of any Toner spill.

    NOTE: Shaking the cartridge will ensure maximum copies per cartridge.

  5. Slide the new cartridge into the machine until it locks in place

  6. Turn the Toner locking lever down until it locks in place.

    IF it is not sliding in. remove the cartridge and on the back of it, there is a round drive you may have to spin a quarter turn and reinsert. Sometimes that doesnt line up

Hi there
I have found various documents which may help you with this problem and possible future problems. This page:

can find any code connected with Kyocera mita machines by changing the machine and the error code in the appropriate drop down menus. C710 is identified as:
Description Toner sensor problem
• The sensor output voltage is outside the range of 0.5 to 4.5 V during toner control.
• The toner sensor control voltage cannot be set within the setting range when maintenance item U130 is run. Causes Defective toner sensor. Poor contact of the toner sensor connector terminals. Developer problem.

In your question you mention "Compatible KP23153 Black Toner Cartridge 106153" and that led me to wonder if the compatible cartridge is the cause of your C710 error since that is toner related.
Might be worth trying an original cartridge to see if the error goes away.

Fax machine is sending faxes but is saying toner empty even though a toner has been replaced.


if you toner is empty replace it.
if you replaced it and it still say emty do the following

you will go in service mode.
if you push menu agian scroll unterl you find cartridge egnor swich on
fax off and on all will be ok

Keeps saying toner empty even when replaced with new toner


Please do not be offended by any of the suggestions. I do not assume anything.
Toner can become "caked" slightly hardened, so if you have the opportunity to shake the toner inside its container, do so.
If you have replaced an entire unit, confirm protective strip has been removed from toner before installing into cartride or its proper placement.
These two suggestions are preliminary to comprehensive troubleshooting.

In almost every case, the problem you describe can be traced back to 2 things. Dirty corona wire or dirty drum (or both). Pull out the toner cartridge, slide the wire cleaner back and forth a few times, clean the drum. The gently shake the toner cartridge from side to side to evenly distribute the toner and replace. This should solve your problem. Best of luck.

Changed the Toner in Fax Machine and Still reads "Low Toner"


First, the obvious
  • Did you gently rock the toner cartridge from side to side to evenly distribute the toner?
  • Did the cartridge "click" into place?(did lock lever pop up when it was inserted)
  • Did you replace the protective cover securely?
Another thing to check is cleaning the Corona wire inside by sliding the Blue tab back and forth several times. Important to return the Blue tab back to the "Home" position afterward.
If you've done ALL of these steps correctly, and the low toner message is still there, a service call is in order. Best of luck with your machine!

Error message about toner


There is no counter on the machine. Toner is recognized by a sensor within the machine that measures density. There is a malfunction. Only way to repair is have it checked /replaced by a tech.
