My Whirlpool Duet has absolutely no power...on the panel or inside the drum for the light. I've: reset the breaker, checked for excess lint, unplugged and replugged the unit, checked the power cords connections on the inside. Should I check the thermo fuse next?

at times there is no power then later the power comes on and the dryer will run, then it will quit and display a PF power failure! I have checked my breaker it is not tripped nor have we had a power outage, I have also checked at the outlet and I am getting a 240 supply, is there a sensor or isoverheating in the motor taking place? any suggestions

We have a Whirlpool Duet, Model # GEW9250 PW1.  The control panel power appears to be intermittent, and has been happening for a couple of years already.  The normal fix in the past was to disconnect power at the power cord and reconnect.
Our dryer has been powered off for a few days.  The last load done was a heavy load.  The light in the dryer is out, but I believe that this is a bad bulb.  I have verified that the circuit breakers are not tripped, that there is power to the dryer control board, and have reset the connectors at the control board.  I have not been able to verify that there is 5 volts at the control board, or that the 5 volts is getting to the front panel board.  We bought our dryer on the year 2006.  Could it be possible that there is a bad batch of control panel boards that have been installed during a certain time period?  I have not been able to fid a concrete solution for this intermittent problem.  I would greatly appreciate any help on this problem.
    Thanks

Sometimes the control knobs that you set your dryer to different heating sets will go bad but it is in the control panel some where i whould say it is the heating setting

SOURCE: control panel does not work

This is a process so right down everything, remove the 3 screws on the rear of the dryer for the top panel. Be sure you unplug the machine first before attempting this as high voltage is present. The front user panel is clipped to the chassis and we need to check two items. First the wire harness from the motor control unit to the panel and how well is the board attached to the panel. Look inside and you will see catchs bottom and top, with carefull lifting up and out the top loosens and then the bottom. We want to check the assembly and how well the wires are attached. If all looks sound unplug the board from the motor control unit and replug the unit. Now reattach to the chassis, make sure all is clear of the top and plug it in. Try to power up the unit, if not the panel is dead.
From when you mentioned the dryer light worked I know power is there for the board but I will not say off hand just buy a board, test always look for loose panels and wires then we go broke buying the part. Last is the machine new? If less than a year call sears, 1800for my home and have them fix it!

There should be a wiring diagram located where the electronics are in an envelope. Check for a fuse to the control board. Sometimes the fuse doesn't look like an ordinary fuse that we typically see on cars and things like that. It will appear to look more like a resistor. You need a volt meter to check if there isn't an obvious fuse on the control board.

Thermal fuse location

It's not a thermal fuse..You're getting power so issue is either the board or the fuse inside the board..that's what you should be looking at..All switches are mainly for safety

Lights on control panel wont go off

Very likely the unit is fried. Start with a electrical tester and go to town inside the back and the bottom of the machine. Also, before you even do that, check the current at the dryer plug. The two hot wires or for 1) the motor and controls, and for 2) the heating elelent. Then check the wire/cord connection at the rear of the machine with the tester. I've been doing this a long time, and my suspicion would be the timer is toasted. The timer is really sensitive to power surges. If not, do the motor.
Most dryers have a wiring schematic on a piece of paper inside the rear of the control panel to help you pinpoint the problem.
Be blessed.

UNPLUG UNIT remove three screws in back of dryer holding top, from in front of machine slide top to back of unit to remove, now you will see secrews securing panel to unit also two secrews come from inside unit to the front after these 4 screws lift user innerface panel straight up..
Now after that ck for connectors loose or unpluged hopefully, if not your going to need the tech sheet and a elec . meter to test system

check the door switch.or you may need to replce the main control panel. but you also need to check the thermal fuses inside the dryer cabinet, one of those can be bad.

You can buy the control board yourself for about $200 and install it yourself. It could be a fuse inside that had blown too, Email me at buffalonymann@yahoo.com if you have any questions

We are having the same problem. We have the Neptune dryer MDE5500AYZ. The control panel doesn't come on. We know it's getting electricity as the light in the dryer is on. Is there a reset button in the dryer?
